The company was formed in August 2009 by four students of Stockholm University, Sweden. After less than a year Phoenix Spirit was released and won the "Best Mobile Game" category at the Swedish Game Awards 2010. Spearhead Entertainment are responsible for some of the more innovative and creative titles on the App Store and have received generally positive reviews from gaming press. In early 2010 a sister studio opened in Beijing and are responsible for the creation of Mana Chronicles.
