Rita is a professional musician and composer who resides in Nelson, British Columbia. She studied both piano and classical guitar as of a young age, and went on to study music at the University of Victoria, receiving her Bachelor of Music degree in Performance in Classical Guitar. Rita was awarded a full fellowship to continue her studies, and completed her Masters degree in Music in 1999. A Johann Strauss Foundation scholarship supported further studies in Spain and Austria, where Rita studied with renouned musicians including Pepe Romero, Alvaro Pierri, and Massimo Scattolin.
