Saved my game!

This asset is super EASY to use and it saved me from HOURS OF HEADACHES! My build time went from over an hr to just 2 minutes. I will be honest, I have no idea how keywords and shaders work, but after downloading an asset (Burn Dissolve Master) it made my project take forever to build and load scenes. I bought Shader Control backed up my game, and then started disabling shaders to the best of my knowledge. I pruned keywords and applied local tagging (literally having no idea what I was doing) but then I went to build my game and it was FAST! The only thing I "broke" was a mist particle effect, but I just reverted the shader and BOOM it was fixed. So anyone reading this take it from a guy who honestly has no idea how shaders work....you can fix your game and reduce build time and load time with this tool. Its easy to use even if you dont know what you are doing. My advice? Make a backup of your project and then let this tool rip! I don't regret this purchase one bit! THANK YOU!

I have a problem with a long building time, but I optimize shader keywords with that and now can build clear build in 20 minutes instead of 3-7 hours! Honestly, maybe there was some different magic but I swear - Shader Control was the part of it!

I originally thought I'd be doing some shader editing, which I can't do, but then I realized what it really does is optimize build time, size and performance like crazy!! I had over 100k shader variants and my builds took over 2 hours. Then I picked this up and it stripped all the variants I wasn't using (before I built), helped me realize I could get rid of some variants by just reducing my key words. My builds are so much smaller, and take only 10 minutes!! Definitely a great investment.

Now that decals have been added as a renderer feature in URP 2021.2+, we have to be careful about keyword usage or else we quickly face a cascade of shader variants and nearly infinite build times. Not only will this help strip shaders variants, but it also works simply as a browser that shows you what's going on in your project. If your build times are getting long, you're in the right place.

[Update] after all this Years, i want to say: *THANK YOU* to Kronnect, a very nice Partner in Creating! if you have some Kronnect Asstes on your Watchlist: you can buy. Works perfectly, have really good Support, and helps you out! just to say this again: Even after all this Years: **THIS HERE** is one of the most senceful, best and amazing Packages, i ever buy! if you have a big project: THIS - IS - A - LIFESAVER! [Update 05 2025 End] How just 1.5 MB can solve an entire months-long problem. What can I say about this ? It is the holy grail. Honestly, that's all you can say about it! 1st - Respect to the Dev! Very finely programmed, bug-free, modifies without much prior knowledge, can restore Beckups, looks at the whole project, and is fast to boot. 2. - it should be MUSTHAVE actually already standard in the Unity Engine. In a time, in which everyone for each things, necessarily with Amplify Shader Editor must play around, without he has ever heard what of ShaderCode, so many global keywords come to light, that it smokes. If your project is a bit bigger, you will reach the limit unimaginably fast. And countless shaders are not even necessary. Until today I have always cleared this out by hand, but now after the number of my required "Particle Effects" and other small assets, which come along with 2 effects but 50 shaders, rose to immeasurable heights (small exaggeration) I had after about 4 hours of search and reprogram by hand on "Shader_Feature_Local" and the like - simply fed up. It's like a hydra, chop off one head and 2 grow back. Terrible. So I thought, "Okay" give the asset a chance. i read earlier "Breaks Enviro", no it doesn't! I have not found a problem (and if you do, you can just "restore" it, if necessary you just re-import Enviro??? where is the problem. But: I have not found any errors. My project is - more - than "just" complex, it is very big, has a lot of shaders and therefore tons of keywords. After giving myself the hours to click through each asset drawer and rewrite everything by hand, it's enough. I am tremendously pleased! It is - SUPER - done, and it should be part of the basic equipment of every serious Unity user! This asset is more than just a lifesaver. it is ... the holy grail. @ Dev: Thanks! Hi, Thanks for your review! We're completely agree - if your project has a medium or big size, the need for a tool that provides you clear insights project-wide about the shaders is a MUST-HAVE. Not only it avoids any excess in keywords usage or reduces build time. Most important is, perhaps, it helps you remove the crap from your app, making it less bloat and faster to download and execute.
