Render pipeline compatibility
The Built-in Render Pipeline is Unity’s default render pipeline. It is a general-purpose render pipeline that has limited options for customization. The Universal Render Pipeline (URP) is a Scriptable Render Pipeline that is quick and easy to customize, and lets you create optimized graphics across a wide range of platforms. The High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) is a Scriptable Render Pipeline that lets you create cutting-edge, high-fidelity graphics on high-end platforms.

Additional compatibility information

Demo assets use Unity's built-in materials that may be upgraded to other SRPs. Wheteher the upgraded materials work as expected or not, it's up to Unity and their SRP upgrade procedures. Some materials might require a manual upgrade to a RP-compatible material.

Description

Vehicle Physics Pro implements an industry-grade, AAA-class vehicle dynamics simulation model comparable with major vehicle simulation franchises.

Every aspect of the vehicle may be configured resulting in all the expected and unexpected effects. Industry OEMs and car manufacturers use Vehicle Physics Pro for prototyping, testing and improving vehicles and related technologies in Unity.

⚠️ This is an advanced vehicle asset ⚠️

Good knowledge of vehicle mechanics, car tuning and real-world set-up techniques is highly recommended. Configuring vehicles in VPP is easy, but setting them up with realistic specifications is almost as difficult as in real vehicles. If you need vehicles that are simple to set up, please consider Edy's Vehicle Physics instead.

Technical details

Vehicle Dynamics features

  • Engine: torque curve, brake torque, fuel consumption, stall
  • Clutch: disc friction, clutch slip
  • Torque Converter with locking curve
  • AWD (all-wheel-drive), RWD (rear-wheel-drive), FWD (front-wheel-drive)
  • Automatic Transmission with P-R-N-D and Manual modes
  • Manual Transmission with optional Auto-Shift
  • Gearbox: Multiple forward and reverse gear ratios
  • Differentials: Open, Locked (spool), LSD (limited slip), Torsen
  • Torque Splitter (i.e. Quattro transmissions)
  • Vehicle Inertia
  • Brakes: Front, Rear, Neutral, Handbrake
  • Steering: Ackerman, TOE, multiple steering axles
  • Tire Friction: Flat, Lineal, Smooth, Parametric, Pacejka
  • Lateral tire deflection
  • Suspension: spring rate, damper rate, distance, anchor
  • Wheel rolling friction
  • Multi-point aerodynamic drag and downforce

The vehicle dynamics model simulates all expected and unexpected effects. Examples:

  • In locked differentials driveline windup may be observed as static torques.
  • In open differentials a wheel can rotate backwards under certain conditions.
  • A stalled engine may be restarted without using the ignition key if the vehicle gains enough speed: Press clutch / Engage gear / Release clutch.

Driving assists

  • Steering assists: auto max grip, auto counter-steer
  • Speed Limiter
  • Cruise Control
  • ABS (Anti-lock Braking System)
  • TCS (Traction Control System)
  • ESC (Electronic Stability Control)
  • ASR (Anti-Spin Regulation)

Other features

✔ Highly efficient design with minimal CPU impact.

✔ Vehicle substeps: configurable trade-off between simulation precision and CPU usage. Learn More

✔ Vehicle receives input and exposes its internal data via the Data Bus, a simple protocol inspired in the OBD-II standard. Learn More

✔ Designed and developed for Unity: Component > Vehicle Physics menu, coherent and detailed inspector, useful gizmos.

✔ Flawless integration into existing projects.
