Amazing asset + support

Vest1naon version 7.1
I purchased Obi Softbody quite recently and hope to make full use of it. I'm impressed by what the demo scenes showcase. Also, five out of five stars for the fast response and support from the developer regarding my personal issue with incompatibility between different Obi versions in one project. Huge thanks!

Great product

darirazeon previous version 7.0.4
I really like what Obi does, but I gave this rating because they have very little documentation for a fairly complex product. I use Obi Softbody and Obi Rope, and I can't figure out how to link them together, since there's not a word about interaction in the documentation.

Hi, "they have very little documentation for a fairly complex product." Not sure what you mean, documentation is extensive and detailed: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/obisolver.html It goes over general asset architectural design: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/bigpicture.html Global simulation parameters: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/obisolver.html Collision detection: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/collisions.html Setting up a softbody: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/softbodysetup.html Using the blueprint editor: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/softbodyblueprinteditor.html Skinning meshes to a softbody: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/softbodyskinner.html Even how the engine works internally: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/convergence.html And lots of other topics: from scripting to troubleshooting, there's over *50 pages* worth of documentation with animations, images, etc. If you'd want more details about a specific use case or have any questions, feel free to ask! "I use Obi Softbody and Obi Rope, and I can't figure out how to link them together, since there's not a word about interaction in the documentation." Interaction is automatic, no need to do anything: just place a rope and a softbody together in the same solver and they'll interact since everything is made out of particles, and particles colllide with each other by default. This is mentioned many times troughout the manual. If you want to "link" them together as in attach one particle of the rope to a particle in the softbody, use a ObiStitcher component. Here's the manual pages regarding it: https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/stitcher.html https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.0/stitchconstraints.html let me know if I you need further help,

PeachClamNineon previous version 6.4
Ever since playing Powder Game in 2007, I've been enamored by physics simulations in games. I figured "Physics Simulator" would be a new genre of video game, where most of the game play comes from the interaction and interplay of physics rules. Since then there's been a few games with at least some of these elements. But nothing as versatile or advanced as Obi Softbody (and the other Obi products) could let you do. Want to make BeamNG.drive? Stick some wheels on an Obi Softbody with pin constraints. Some kind of Pneumatic Press simulator? Obi Softbodies simulate plasticity; you can squish stuff real good. It even has something called a full-body volumetric softbody which can physically simulate animated characters. There are over 20 academic research papers & articles cited on the developer's website. Some of the stuff in here has not been implemented in any other publicly available game engine. It is clear the developer has a unique passion for physics simulation. If you do, too, then this is the asset for you.

Just can't get it to work

EssencyStudioson previous version 6.5.4
I really really want to like this asset, but I've tried in multiple projects to get it to work. I've gone over the troubleshooting guide, the docs, different unity versions, setting it up in every different conceivable way. Just can't get it to work. Final straw is after using it in the latest LTS 2022.3.32 even the example scene throws errors when just rebinding the skinner. I've tried reimporting and updating packages, just doesn't work. Other obi assets are fantastic, I've just had so much trouble with this one, hope to see it polished up in the future. I'll come back and update my review if anything changes.

Hi there! Surely we'll be able to help! please write to our support email and/or forums and we will work with you to get it up and running. Setup for all Obi assets is identical, so if you've successfully set up any of the others as you mention then you must be missing a small detail to get ObiSoftbody working.

Not an easy thing to use.

rimunasubion previous version 6.5.4
Although these are attractive features, they are difficult to use in terms of setup, performance, ease of use, and so on, and it is more than likely that you will fail before you can achieve what you want to do with these assets. It is recommended that you consider the cost of this expensive asset carefully before purchasing it.

Hi, Thanks for your review! Softbody simulation in general is a *very* advanced topic, and Obi in particular requires prior knowledge about both physics simulation and C# programming to be used in an effective way. This said, we'll be more than glad to help you if you write to our support email and/or forums.

All you need about SoftBody

Spikeboron previous version 6.5.4
Does anything on the store offer those features shown in the demo? No. Just buy it if you love what you saw. Note: For those that open demo and see broken dragon, you're just 2 clicks away to solve this: select the dragon blue print > click generate, then back to the dragon skin mesh renderer > Obi Soft Body Skinner > click Bind Skin.

Hi, just hit "Bind Skin" in the ObiSoftbodySkinner component. This is because meshes imported from older Unity versions will have their vertex order changed in newer versions, so the serialized softbody data is no longer correct. Drop us a line if you need any help! :)

완벽한 시뮬레이션! 하지만...

magnolia6715on previous version 6.5.2

High level of control and detailed documentation

CGManon previous version 6.2
I love how elaborate this asset is. The setup is therefore a bit more, but very logical and reasoned. Behaviour and performance can easily be controlled. The website of Virtual Method Studio has nice explanations about the functionality of most parts. This helps to set up the simulation. I received more than expected.
