Love the tool, its simple to use, but i would really like if there is a chance that in futur you will implement that not just texture can be added for each hexagon on sphere but a game object too. So that we can tile that sphere same way as we would do with plane hexagon tilemap using prefab GameObject. I would really really like to see that addition :)

Great, easy to use asset! But lacking Mac/Metal support

This asset has been very easy to experiment and work with so far and is very performance. It also has a very clear codebase.
My current issue is that the code warns about not supporting Metal and suggests to switch to OpenGL. This is needed at least for the extrusion geometry shaders.
Unfortunately OpenGL is not supported anymore on newer macs (and in newer versions of Unity I believe). Is there a way that you could update this asset to support Metal for rendering on Mac and iOS devices in the future?

Hi,
Yes, as specified in the asset description extrusion is not fully supported on iOS due to lack of geometry shader support. In this case, the hexagons are still displaced but they don't render the side faces.
Of course, the extrusion is an option that can be disabled from the inspector and doesn't affect the rest of functionality. We're looking into ways to replace this functionality for iOS although we have no ETA yet.

This system is exactly what I needed to start my game. It delivers on all its promises and was fairly easy for me to start working with and modifying (which is great considering I haven't done any programming or Unity projects in like 6 years).
When I had a question I reached out to their support team and they got back to me within a day and I was back up and running.
Definitely recommended!

I used this as a basis for my game GeoMaze. It's very powerful out of the box, and extremely easy to set up. The documentation is great and the code is quite clean. Easily extensible with a bit of C# knowledge. Probably saved me weeks of dev time, thanks!

This asset is of high quality, fully documented and if you have a feature request these guys take it seriously. You don't get a just a hexa based sphere, you also get A* pathfinding for it and enough demo scenes to get you started. It gets regular updates like all of their assets.

Understandable and robust API to interact with Hexasphere prevents any unnecessary caching from your side as a developer. Functionality like path-finding, extrusion and texturing are delivered as good as promised.
The asset is a little bit raw. Every now and then you'll find a little bug here and there but Hexasphere is updated extremely often and it get fixed very quickly.
Customer service is fantastic. Ramiro, my email contact always provides excellent and to the point answer. Never have to wait for more than 3 days.
Long story short, Hexasphere is a no-joke asset, if you're looking for hexagrid spherical maps, this is asset that won't fail you.

Just the basis of my whole project, the asset is powerful and easy to integrate. The developper is very concerned by the questions of his customers and has a forum where he provides answers on a very regular basis. Totally worth the price.
After a year, the support is still there. One of my best purchase on asset store.
The asset has lots of upgrades regulary

I think this asset is a top notch asset. Very powerful and very easy to use. And just as important it has excellent support by it's developer. I had several questions about how to use it and got answers right away on the Kronnect webpage's message boards.
