Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
Whilst this shader works on a Windows deployment, it includes a mobile version which is not supported by the VRchat for Quest, that is my use case.
I contacted the developer and got a basic response with a link to the depth buffer limitation.
Then heard that in principle that should work with depth buffer enabled but it looks like the hosting platform does not allow this.
Given that no more refund is possible as per the terms and conditions of the store and I cannot use that asset due to compatibility issues, I am giving a medium score because this product is not compatible with my use case.

However, I can briefly address your question: Some fog assets have a closed code structure for it's fog shading, and can’t be integrated into other shaders unless refactored by the author. This is unfortunately the case with UniStorm, so it won't work in combination with any transparant material (not just this water shader).
Most fog assets will include documentation on how to modify a (water) shader to support it's fog rendering.

best water asset in the store, and the developer was quick to respond to a question i had. All around epic asset.

I bought this long time back when there was a sale.
I just revisited it and was surprised how easy is it.
In fact, the water settings all in one gameobject,
just plug and play.
The customization was very simple and straightforward.
Within less than half hour playing around with the config, I got ocean look that I wanted.
Performance is also good, my ocean spanned almost 2000 * 2000 meter, I didn't see any noticeable drop or lag in my game (my gpu is nvidia 980 TI from 2015).
