USed to be goo, doesn't work in v.2021 +

It's a shame that the developer can't update this shader to work with the latest version of Unity. As it sits now, it does not compile and throws errors. PLEASE FIX THIS SHADER or it should be removed from sale from the asset store

Hello, Your shader is 10/10. I bought it and I am amazed how useful it is. I have a request if you can help me. Is there any chance you can help me to add a alpha cutoff in "PreIntegratedSkinShaderStandard"? Thank you in advance,

It doesn't work in last Unity versions

I was able to correct the problem below. But not the fact that projected shadows doesn't match the skin color making a harsh transition. Included the details in the forum. This is yet the best skin shader in Unity. But the sad thing is that the developer doesn't answer questions and stopped developing it. Old (obsolete) Also links to examples and documentation are broken. Developer stopped answering questions in his forum long time ago. He doesn't offer a email to contact him directly.

It was a great shader...

It was the best skin shader and it still looks great but it's out of development and full of issues. However, it works with unity 2018.3.9f1 but shadows have a lot of artifacs which makes the overall experience bad.

The best skin shader on the asset store

yes, and i have tested many of them, not all, but this one is near to the perfection. why i don't give a 4 stars ? Just because there is some optimisation that can be done on textures wich are most of time set to use RGB or R channel, wich means a lot of lost channels for nothing. and it would be really easy and fast to change Red Channel to Blue or Green or alpha, just to get something stronger and lighter.

At first I was afraid to buy it and being unable to have a good result, but actually it was easy to set up and it's probably the best skin shader on the asset store!

Ended up jus using the standard shader

As good and promising as this shader first looked, as I dove more into it and created all the proper maps and such, it still looked good somewhat and it was cool to have a skin shading solution inside of Unity with so many settings. But after playing with it a little longer, I realized I still liked the standard shader result on my current character better. I dont know what it is. Maybe jus me. Maybe I did something wrong. But this shader doesnt seem to be able to get the quality into its shading the standard shader uses. Its scattering and translucency looks fine, but it also looks somewhat, off. Its making my textures not entirely look like they where authored. It looked odd for me and I couldnt really pinpoint what it was. I wasnt able to get it right on a full character. It got worse for me when I started using the Post Processing Ptack, which also produced a bug with this shader when using the SSAO. I also ran into a limitation texture wise, not being able to use the emessive channel on my creature. I was amazed at first. But it doesnt really fit into the scene when everything else uses the standard shader. So I gotta be honest and re-write my review. While its still a fine shader, it didnt fit for me personally. Thats why I just lower one star. Coming from Unreal, I was sad to see that Unity lacks Skin shading like Unreal has, so I bought this one. To me, it seems Unity compensates its lack of skin shaders through the real good standard shader, which seems to be very suitable for almost every surface, when the textures are authored correctly. Lastly, I compared my model with the standard and this shader, back and forth, and the standard always looked right. This one, to me, did not. Its maybe a good solution for skin only surfaces. Showing off realistic faces and such. (At least, the example scenes did not look bad) But for full characters on one texture sheet, with limited ressources, I´m really not sure. I created all the proper masks and maps. No luck getting it right. It always had this "self- illuminated/emessive" look for me. Maybe my characters polycount was too low (15k all, 6k for the body/skin), maybe I should have split jus the skin into a single texture set. But thats not how I work. I love working efficiently and dont like having more texture sets than neccessary. The shader is not bad at all. I jus have the overall feeling it doesnt fit into the current rendering style of Unity.

Standard Shader is better

The standard shader gets better results with emissive and doesn't have all the strange shadowing problems that this one has in different shadow / light. ---Originally Said--- Warning, this shader is actually slowish, great, but slowish, any chance the author could look into this?
