You want AAA shadows - realistic, performant and physic based? There you go! The only problem - no URP / HDRP support, which basically disqualifies NGSS2 from today competition. NOT because of product quality (it's 11/10), but NO SUPPORT for pipelines which are used and supported at the moment (BiRP is already a past, in next 2 years will be gone forever, while URP / HDRP will be supported for many years).

Been using this for mobile 3d game in builtin and it looks great and performs great as well at any quality level. Highly recommend.

I can't say that i understand how shadows are rendered and i feel that asset doesn't do a good job explaining it. For example what is frustum shadow what is this sampling slider etc.
But developer is active on his discord so support works. I couldn't make shadows work for my camera setup (camera was too far away from game scenery and i had difficult time making shadows work at large distance and in close distance when camera zooms in). So i had to make some changes to my project.
After that the asset provided some upgrades to BIRP unity shadow allowing for some fine tuning of softness and other parameters.
I didn't make use of frustum shadows or multiple lights setup just direct light, so can't comment on those other futures, for directional light the asset's shader and exposed controls component is an upgrade of unity solution. Tested in build and worked without issues.

At the time I bought it in 2021, I knew it only supported Built-In however the creator said that URP support was coming soon, "later that year." I bought it anticipating that moment.
Years passed, and still no URP support. Here on the asset store, it says URP support coming "Q1 2024" which we are now also long past, so that too was not true.
On the forum, the creator said in May that URP support would be here in summer. It's now 3 months later, we have about a week left of summer, and still no URP support.
Although this product is perfectly fine for built-in, realistically nobody in 2024 is using built-in and being lied to for years about URP support coming over and over is absolutely unacceptable.
I would urge people not to buy this expecting the creator will ever release URP support.

I appreciate the dev for making such a good asset. Unfortunately, I've came up with various issues.
First, it didn't work my intel-based macbook but it did in m1 mac. I had to spend almost a full day for that reason. Developer did no idea either. Then I realized it's somewhat related to unity (?) that you should activate the HDR on graphics settings for whatever graphics tier you're using.
After that, I realized the FPS is dropped by %20-30 at least (even in the lowest settings) and did not work on relatively new phone (iphone 14 pro) so I gave up.

After implementing this asset to our VR game, I found out that the frustrum shadows don't work. I've waited for months for a promised fix but it still haven't been updated. I leave this review as a warning for any VR developer looking at this asset.
