It worked up until we needed to do VR. Author hasn't responded to support requests in over 2 years and the asset doesn't work with single pass rendering.

Easy to setup and use.
Clear and thorough documentation.
Good technical support.
(Although I have not made much use yet of the Eye Adaption portion of the asset)

Initiall I could not even install this effect because of the way that Unity 5.6 compresses assets. Importing it would crash Unity and I spent hours tracking that down. Once I got it installed, and started to use it, meh, its ok I guess. I have a collection of tone mappers and while this one looked promision with the eye adaption, in the end, it was not all that better or worse and any of the others in my opinion.
Maybe if you did not already have an existing tone mapping system it would work out for you.

It takes a bit of time to get used to the eye adaptation, but the guide that is included is clear and to the point. After playing around with it for a while, it starts to become clear just how freaking powerful that tool is -- and, yes, you can use it without the rest of the tonemapping tools, if you so desire. I happen to be doing so.
This is fantastic.

This is the same kind of tonemapping used in CryEngine and Unreal Engine. The difference is astounding, especially with the eye adaptation component.
Can be used with Scion, too – just use the non-tonemapping version of Scion and set Scion's eye adaptation range to 0, 0.

Had an issue at first with the Eye Adaptation script on the Mac (v2.0.2) but the developer was super responsive, gave me a quickie patch to get the asset working and then followed up shortly after with a fully fixed version (v2.0.3). The asset is great and the developer is clearly committed to its quality, so I highly recommend.

Original review:
We bought this plugin in order to get eye adaptation in our game. We had been using Unity's built-in tonemapper without adaptation with decent results.
Immediately upon changing to Filmic Tonemapping Deluxe I was greeted with 5 parameters to tweak. No exposure which I was expecting. Getting good results takes time, and initially I was not impressed as the image didn't look as good as with Unity's built-in tonemapper for some reason.
With eye adaptation I was able to get the exposure to change depending on the brightness of the screen, but it is not obvious what the adaptation does. Tonemapper doesn't have exposure, yet eye adaptation is doing something with exposure. It's confusing. Also the historgram is difficult to understand. I can visualize it, but changing the min max range doesn't seem to have any expected effect on the image. The youtube video sure seems nice, but I can't get these kind of effects in our game. Maybe add some statistics in the component that would tell the user how the eye adaptation is affecting the tonemapper... like current exposure.
A tutorial video with simple example scenes would be highly appreciated. Now you have a thin PDF manual which briefly explains the theory behind the tonemapper and goes through the parameters, but doesn't tell you how to get the results.
Also support for this plugin seems to be non-existent. There are no forums, no twitter... just an support email address on their website.
EDIT: The author has updated the plugin with better visualization of the eye adaptation graph and short PDF tutorials about how to get you started. These additions make the plugin much more usable as you can see how the exposure and the limits are working. I would still like to see in-depth videos or before after images for tweaking, but this is a great start. Good job! Raised the review to 5 stars.

Hi Markku,
We have been selling FTD for a bit more than a year now and only recently some users started to complain about the ease of use.
FTD is more flexible than any other auto-exposure (eye adaptation) effects that we know of, as a consequence it is a bit more complex to use.
Based on users feedbacks like yours, we have been working on an update that will bring more ease of use to the effect. We also worked on a Quickstart guide that will explain step by step how to calibrate the eye adaptation effect and the tonemapper for your scene/game project. The update is almost finished, and should be published on the store next week.
We believe that FTD is the best tonemapper/eye adaptation for Unity and the next update will upgrade the quality, functionality and ease of use even more.
We always provide great support if you send us an email. We helped many people that way. Otherwise you can contact us on the Unity forum, and we recently started a Facebook and a Twitter page.
