Absolutely fantastic, still top tier

Richard_L_Lofton version 1.6.2.0
Cinema Director is still a very capable tool in Unity 6! While Timeline & Cinemachine do give more depth (better blending, quaternions etc) they also require a bigger learning curve and more setup.
For anyone trying to get started with cinematics I think that Cinema Director is still a great tool to learn about animating on timeline curves, previewing Mecanim animations while scrubbing and more - especially if you struggled with Timeline / Cinemachine.
The pose->keyframe workflow feels very natural, and having everything in a central location is easy to work with. By the time you are ready for large scale cinematic work and hit the limits of Cinema Director you will have learned a lot and will be more than ready for Timeline. Even then Cinema Director has value as a quick prototyping tool for cinematics.
Overall, I feel that Cinema Director is complete, it does not need further development. I just hope that the developers maintain it and keep it updated to be compatible with future versions of Unity as I will never stop using it if they do.

Broken interface for Mac users
larrygj4764on version 1.6.2.0
The Director timeline only shows a tiny portion of the leftmost column where the items are located for inserting into the timeline, so you cannot interact with the actor groups, etc., making the app useless. I don't know if this is an MacOS problem or a bug in the app. I got no response from support made weeks ago.

(Edit: It's good in 2018, but I don't recommend to get this in 2022 since it won't get update anymore)
- Background:
I'm Motion Designer with little to no programming knowledge, I started to use Cinema Director in 2015 with Unity 5 when I was in game industry.
At that time it was *the* only way to make cutscenes with NLE (Premiere/AfterEffects) like interface, way before official Timeline came out in 2017.
- Thoughts:
Even it's not powerful as Timeline now, but to this day I still think Cinema Director has the best workflow for produce cutscene/cinematic in Unity. You can control almost anything like keyframe/curve/toggle in a single window without struggle in Animator/Animation window is amazing.
Group feature is also super useful and keep your file clean and organized, it was a pain to edit like 50+ tracks in Unity Timeline.
It did gets unstable sometime if you are doing too many stuff at once, but you can always sperate them into smaller chunk.
The only missing feature to me is Weighted Tangents, it's super crucial for edit curves, I just can't live without them!

Quite Good

Distant-Objecton version 1.6.2.0
It's quite good for what it is meant to do, additionally I've found that, compared to most other Assets on the store, it's quite easy to extend/modify for my own use case.

I love this asset it was so easy to use and put a full cutscene with dialogue and camera cuts together. Only wish it worked with unity Recorder. hope the next update has that capability.

HI, by some miracle got it to work with the recorder. Still need to bring it to your attention though and make sure that in the next update its a featured fix.

Clunky interface, Outdated documentation, zero support

deepakkumarbon previous version 1.5.0.0
Are you guys there to support this tool or is upto the user to figure it out how to use the tool. The document I start is outdated and unable to proceed. its been 4 weeks asking for help at support@cinema-suite.com and no one bother to respond. If there is no support probably refunding my money would be a great idea.

If we missed your support issue we apologize. Yes. We offer refunds. Email support and we will arrange it. Sorry you aren't satisfied with the project and we missed responding to you. Unity made many fundamental changes in 2019 that we are catching up with to make Cinema Director a much smoother experience.
EDIT: We have found that your support request was indeed missed and we apologize. Also, in regards to documentation content, we were not aware Unity removed their Robot Labs package, and will find a suitable replacement.

An easy to use and very effective tool for creating cutscenes
8 years ago
Infinit777on previous version 1.4.6.0
Reviewer was gifted package by publisher.
After using this tool for multiple cutscenes in my game, I decided to finally write my review.
This tool is very easy to learn for new users to the Cinema Suite set of tools. I was able to pick it up and make a professional looking cutscene without watching any tutorials and by barely glancing over documentation. I plan to buy the rest of the cinema suite when i have the money to thanks to the quick and kind responses i received from the creators.

Best Cintematic Sequencer available for Unity
9 years ago
Oneironaughton previous version 1.4.5.4
Cinema Director is extremely intuitive and well thought out, it's the most "native" feeling sequencer I've evaluated. Super tidy track view with deep functionality as everything you can edit for a gameobject, camera, light, character etc etc is exposed.
Great support as well.. i found a bug and within 24 hrs, I got a patch for the fix. Nice!

Buggy Curve Tool
JimJamesJimon previous version 1.4.5.4
The tool may be good for editing pre-existing animations but major bugs in the curve tool on rotation if you pass 360 degrees on the Y axis and lack of common keyframe editing features for curve editing make it not very suitable for authoring camera animations

Thank you for posting your review. Unity has changed the way myGameObject.transform.eulerAngles store quaternion angle data. UPDATE - at our request, Unity added the API's required for this functionality back into 2017. This issue is now FIXED for Cinema Director in Unity 2017
I was using another timeline editor for a few years, putting up with its shortcomings and working around its bugs. Then Cinemachine came along with its little mention of close relationship with Cinema Director.
Already having Pro Cams I thought, "Ughbgbbg" and bought it.
I am so, so - So happy now.
It's clean, powerful, plays nice with others and a pleasure to use.
