No undo function
Aeyoson version 1.9.9.5
I can't recommend a tool that doesn't allow me to undo mistake and that I need to manually fix what I did wrong on re-type the old value. One mistake and you could lose hours of progress

Its a huge improvement

It's crazy how much better the ASE is compared to unity shader graph. This should be the default for Unity.

Great Power, Dated UX
timurprokoon previous version 1.9.8.1
I’ve been using Amplify for a while, and overall I’m really impressed with the power and flexibility of the tool. The node system is mature, performant, and lets me build complex shaders far faster than writing everything by hand. For production work it’s still one of the strongest solutions in the Unity ecosystem. That said, the one thing that consistently holds the experience back is the custom UX. It works, but it doesn’t feel aligned with modern Unity UI/UX conventions, and switching between Amplify and Unity’s native tools can feel a bit disjointed. I genuinely believe that if Amplify considered porting the editor to Unity’s newer Graph Toolkit UI stack, the experience would instantly feel “native” — just like how Odin Inspector became the de-facto standard for Inspector extensions once it embraced Unity’s design language. With the power Amplify already has, combined with a modern Unity-native UI, it would become an absolutely invaluable tool for years to come.

Undo Feature is "unstable"

guilhermeqbon previous version 1.9.9.4
I really like this editor but there is a massive issue for me, we are in 2025, this is one of the biggest assets on the store and the crtl+z is marked as unstable and disabled by default.

I like it. But when I work with shaders written not in Amplify Editor, an error occurs IndexOutOfRangeException. Amplify Editor apparently tries to process shader properties but somehow unsuccessfully. It seems you forgot about Int. Will fix it, this error is from version 1.9.2.2

Hello there! Thanks for the rating. We're not entirely sure what you're referring to, ASE only edits shaders made by it. Please get in touch via support@amplify.pt, I'm sure we can help identify the problem.

Better than Shader Graph
BinoWulfon previous version 1.9.9.1
really worth upgrade from shader graph and it's way more straightforward and scriptable compared to shader graph, the only thing that would be REALLY cool to add is a way to do while/forloops on it, just like you can do with geometry nodes in Blender, just to remove the necessity to loop over manually basically like unrolling loops, but this is like my only major gripe compared to writing shaders directly with code. Another problem too is that making templates for it is a little bit annoying but that's understandable, it's not a simple problem to solve XD

It is THE Unity shader editor. ShaderGraph should only learn from it.

tldr; if you're on the fence, just go for amplify shader editor. Long version: Some background: i have been C#/Gameplay programming since 2016, and i wanted to get into shaders, it was always difficult, really opened the door for that and eased me into it, so do keep in mind, my review is based on this perspective. there is the obvious comparison with Shadergraph so i want to get that out of the way. Shader graph's ui, while polished looking, it always confused me, the learning materials for shader graph are kind of a "hunt", so you'd literally have to search all over the place, and who knows if what you found is a good tutorial or a bad one. Now, when compared to Amplify Shader Editor, things are completely different, the UI is very intuitive (as long as you're used to unity's ui in general), there are many "templates" so you can get started creating the shader immediately without having fiddle with the settings. It is extremely stable, i did not have any single crash. There is an abundance of learning materials, every single node is documented on their website, and you can easily access the documentation of each node simply by clicking on a small button on the node itself, so if you're unsure about something you can read it quickly. Amplify shader editor comes with a massive shader pack, which you can honestly just use without any changes, and you can use it as learning materials. Amplify shader editor also comes a lot of learning samples and built functions that you can take a part and use in your shaders. For the videos part, there are a few of video based tutorials, they are not "full crash courses" instead they uncover the core functionalities of way shaders work, and general math operations work in terms of shaders, which is great. For more in depth stuff, there are a few channels that go much more in depth creating various effects (polytuts have great ones). Lastly if you are stuck in your shader, just ask on the discord of the asset, and there are many helpful people, that includes the developers of the asset itself. Also, the asset supports all platforms, including switch, and the shaders are also generated in code too, so you can look at the code, and the graphs too. All of these benefits simply make amplify shader editor worth it, even though unity have shader graph. so as an expert programmer in C#/gameplay who wants to pick up shaders, and failed multiple times, despite the existence of shader graph and despite knowing how to code, and a lot of "sparse" videos on it, i can safely say, amplify shader editor, makes things much easier, and makes learning shaders programming, countless times better and easier. So, if you want to get into shaders, even if you do not know how to code at all, this tool is for you. (i also saw there are many high quality assets on the asset store that are made with Amplify shader editor, so you can literally use it for advanced stuff too). Edit: Long story short, nothing to be said, the asset is amazing, if you are remotely interested in shaders this is for you.
