VirtualGrasp automatically creates natural and realistic hand interactions for VR. Without the need for a physics model, VirtualGrasp allows you to interact with complex objects in lifelike ways seamlessly. Grasp tools, levers and complex geometry the way they're meant to be grasped. VirtualGrasp generates hand interactions automatically and requires no time-consuming manual work.


VirtualGrasp uses the concept of "object baking", a simple one-click process that takes all your objects and makes them graspable, regardless of how intricate they may be. Simply sign up on VirtualGrasp.com to obtain login credentials and start using our fast cloud-based baking service. Only the object mesh is used during the baking process, meaning that your assets and IP always stay with you and are never shared or saved on our servers.

What's in the package?

The package contains the VirtualGrasp plugin and a few components that will allow you to familiarise yourself with VirtualGrasp and its features. Onboarding, tutorials, features, and the API are extensively documented here.


How does it work?

VirtualGrasp does not use physics and colliders to generate natural-looking grasps. Instead, highly optimised machine learning algorithms and object shape analysis are used to create natural-looking grasps at runtime. In practice, this means you can grasp objects precisely the way you would expect and maintain high levels of immersion while maintaining top performance.


How can it be used for my own objects and projects? [Pro Version only]

To start using VirtualGrasp for your own project, simply sign up at www.virtualgrasp.com to get access to our cloud-based object baking process directly from within the Unity Editor.

The baking process automatically creates natural grasps based purely on hand- and object-mesh analysis. No textures or other related information are used or shared – purely the mesh. The object's mesh is not stored and is removed after the analysis has been done and the object bake has been saved in your project.

Technical Details

  • Create dynamic and high quality grasps for any kind of object (including complex, non-convex objects) after signing up to Gleechi's cloud service. No manual and time-consuming collider setup is necessary.
  • Grab and interact with physical and non-physical objects, levers, drawers, buttons, and more with one or two hands. No predefining or manual creation of hand poses is required.
  • Use the included VirtualGrasp Studio to pose object-specific grasps if needed.
  • Create and control post animation on these grasps according to your project's needs. E.g. Pressing the trigger of a gun or drilling machine.
  • Supports multiple grasp interactions: object-jump-to-hand and hand-jump-to-object.
  • Supports multiple grasp synthesis methods: Dynamic (runtime generated procedural grasps), Static (select best grasp from a selection of grasps created in GraspStudio), Hybrid (mix between dynamic and static).
  • Take advantage of VirtualGrasp's extendable controller abstraction layer, supporting UnityXR, LeapMotion*, Oculus Finger Tracking*, and mouse (*additional Unity plugins required).
  • Windows and Android (64-bit) versions are included. Mac is not yet supported.
  • Extensive documentation and tutorials.
