It allows you to quickly identify where assets are used within a project, and it is also helpful for detecting and removing unused assets. Most importantly, the feedback is always very fast and friendly. After patch versions 2.6.0~2.6.4, a functional issue occurred in a specific Unity version. When I reported it, I received a fixed package in less than a day. The quick and proactive response was truly impressive. Even now, I think the functionality is already complete, but I have no doubt it will continue to improve. It is a utility well worth purchasing and using long-term.

I thought that FR2 could replace AssetUsageDetector, the asset that I always used previously, but it's not living up to my expectations. With AUD, double clicking on a prefab that uses an asset would actually open the prefab and select the exact game object that uses it, but FR2 will only highlight the prefab instead, and it's not really useful that way. It's also not that reactive, if a reference is changed/removed, the asset will not refresh immediately, making it inaccurate. it would tell you that the reference is still there, even though you have removed it. It also has told me that several animations is not used in the project, even though it's actually used by an animator override controller, making the "delete not referenced assets" a dangerous operation. AUD is still a much better asset, and it's free. edit: 1. right click>open will indeed open the prefab, but it still doesn't show me the exact gameobject in that prefab that uses that asset. 2. No, I actually enabled auto refresh. 3. The problem is, the animator override controller is indeed used in the game, and your asset also detects that, but it failed to detect that the animation is being used by that controller.

Hello @Bunggo99 Firstly, I'm so sorry for your bad experience with FR2. I'd love get in touch and will definitely resolve all the problems you encountered. Here are some of "explanations": 1. I did not have open on double-click but I do have right-click > select open (there were various other options there as well). I will add the double-click to open in the next update - this is much more intuitive and will be a great feature. 2. You said that the references will not update immediately - I think it most likely be caused by the "automatic refresh" was turned off. I introduced this option in this version because most of the time people would not search for reference, and keeping it on most of the time will affect performance (because of the monitoring changes & refresh). You can turn it off in the context menu in the right corner, you can also disable FR2 completely there. 3. The search for no-reference was deep search, so it would deeply search for the unused assets, this means if the animation was only used by an unused controller then it will also be marked as unused (even if there is 1 reference from the controller). I think adding deep search as an optional option would be a great idea. I will add this in the next update. I really hope these answers would solve some of the problems for you. Once again I sincerely apologize for the bad experience you had with FR2, and thanks so much for spending time to give me such a detailed feedback. If you encountered any other problem with the asset or just don't feel like it's working as expected, please let me know. I will try to resolve it as soon as possible.

I have used this asset for a really long time and it's always been incredibly useful. Recently it's been updated to be even more amazing! Huge thanks to the dev for continuing to support this asset!

To me, this is the most reliable reference tracker. I can't work without it anymore - it's like working blindly if you don't know what's referenced or not and by what. The UI could use a bit of love; but the functionality is crucial.

I was having issues with dublicated textures across my project, overtime it became a mess since materials was using different copies of the same texture, re-assing it manually for each material was a nightmare and time wasting, this tool did it in few clicks(Guid Tools seciton)

Currently, using it on Unity 6 Beta and it seems to be working well. I can click on a scene and see all the things it's referencing either directly or indirectly. It does it with other assets as well.

Just select the a scene or any prefab and I can quickly see all the scripts being used, I don't need to read all the code in a legacy project anymore, just the ones that matters. The ability to accurately see how many times an asset being used (or not being used at all) is just excellent!

THIS is the tool that should be built into Unity. This was an absolute lifesaver for cleaning up a yearlong project that had been jammed full of assets. I highly recommend this particularly if you are trying to use the Addressable system and/or Play asset delivery. I would love to see some QOL improvements down the road. For instance being able to automatically move entire swathes of dependencies into their own folder, since that is often the work flow of many of us seeking to modularize our projects to prepare for an asset delivery system. But even without that its a solid 10/10. Being able to accurately see the "Used By" AND "Uses" for each asset is amazing.
