Absolute waste of money and time. Drops FPS x3 times even with 5 decals in the scene. Having 100+ will probably destroy your PC. Have absolute worst handling of uneven surfaces. Will work only with square boxes.
No source code provided, some shady DLL file. Impossible to debug the performance issues or to add some customization. Does not support images by default - you have to convert it to atlas or material.
Switching to the default URP decals system was the only and the best decision for me.

The worst asset ever

The asset is not working on Unity 2022.3 and 2023 (6). There are tons of errors, problems, it even do some glitches effect to inspector.
The support is not existing so I strongly suggest to everyone who have problems, report this asset to Unity. The more people will report it, then maybe creators will do something (or not).
Maybe few years before it was a good asset, but right now it's abandoned and you will not receive any support

Various issues

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this asset.
Performance issues are too important (over 6ms to render a few bullet decals, while my camera rendering the entire scene with 9 sq. km. terrain with grass, trees, etc takes roughly 3 to 4ms).
Trying to also use this to show an area on the ground (like a flag area circle) and the larger the decal, the worse the performances, I have a flag in a 50x50 area and this almost freezes the game. It also gets worse the higher resolution you choose.
But that's not all. The decals simply don't even blend with the object they are being spawned on, they will sorta 'multiply' like in photoshop, so that you lose any visual fidelity where you started from when designing your decal (they will appear way darker than the original)
And finally, what truly kills it is that if you ever want to have proper decal showing on stuff you are gonna need to turn ON mesh reading on basically all of your stuff
This asks the CPU for extra work and saves an extra copy of all your models in the RAM, which again, doesn't help with performances
I am making a battlefield like game with hundreds of planes, tanks, and various guns and props models
Are there really no decal solution out there that works? Really?

It's important to note that the Easy Decal plugin provides various projectors, and not every projector is suitable for dynamic decals. For example, the mesh box projector requires cutting and generating geometry at runtime, which can impact performance. This limitation is clearly highlighted in the plugin's documentation.
To address the performance concerns you mentioned, we recommend considering one of the screen space projectors provided by the Easy Decal plugin. These projectors do not require additional geometry generation and can offer better performance in certain scenarios.
Regarding the visual fidelity issues you encountered, the Easy Decal plugin comes with example shaders, including the multiply shader you mentioned. However, it's worth noting that all mesh-based decals can receive any custom shader, allowing you to switch shaders easily and potentially resolve the visual fidelity problems you mentioned.
Additionally, it's important to mention that the Easy Decal plugin offers a fully featured evaluation version that can be downloaded. This allows you to test the plugin and evaluate its performance and compatibility with your specific use case before making a purchase.
This asset works fine and is great.
However, there are two very bad points.
One is a performance issue. The other is that the source code is not provided even if you want to perform performance tuning.
