This tool allows you to prepare a Tree asset for runtime mesh cutting. Cut any tree you want. Support Unity Trees, Unity wind for SpeedTree creations.
Render pipeline compatibility
The Built-in Render Pipeline is Unity’s default render pipeline. It is a general-purpose render pipeline that has limited options for customization. Tested on Built-in Renderer Pipeline. As there are pure Mesh modifications, I think that this will work normally on other Pipelines.

Description

You can cut trees instantly or add a cut damage step by step.

Support:

  • Unity Trees
  • SpeedTree creations (with standard Unity wind interactions)
  • Any other tree 3d models

API for adding damage to the tree or cutting the tree instantly.


Limitations

  • If you are using some custom shader that handles tree movement like custom wind interactions I DON’T guarantee the correct functionality. You can contact me for any help on this side.

IMPORTANT*:

  • This asset does not includes third parties sources like SpeedTree examples that you can see in the videos.
  • The Demo folder includes two scenes with a simplest trees created by me, with which is enough to test all the functionality.
  • A basic level of programming skills is required
  • Tested on Unity 2020.3.12f1
Technical details
  • Custom editor window that allows to create an asset data
  • Fast runtime calculations
  • Simple API usage, just one function to call to add the damage.
  • This tool doesn't use jobs (no multithreads), so it should work in any type of build like: standalone, mobile, WEBGL, etc.
  • Tested on Unity 2020.3.12f1, 2020.3.33f1
  • Tested on Built-in Renderer Pipeline. As there are pure Mesh modifications I think that this will work normally on other Pipelines.
