Really intuitive and makes great looking terrains

flyingchickenon previous version 2.7.0
Combined it with microsplat to make an incredible terrain. I did buy it 50% off but would still say it's worth the full price. Buy the pro version for real-time edit feedback.

Unusable on Unity last versions
ColonelTimon previous version 2.7.0
I bought WC for unity yesterday, and started playing with it. First, the terrain generation part seems working well, generating cool terrains with eeasy-to-understand settings. The texturing part has a cool interface too, and seems working well BUT.... I added a few textures and started playing with the distribution settings, which are working texture-per-texture, but when I re-generate the terrain and textures, all distribution settings for other textures are resetted all the time. For example I set the first layer with sand on height 0 to 0.4, second layer with dark grass on height 0.4 to 0.6 and slope 0 to 30, third layer with height 0.5 to 0.7, slope 0 to 10...... and when I update the textures for the third layer, layers 1 and 2 are resetted to height 0->1 and slope 0->90, even when I save project before every update, so it makes it completely useless.... So I didn't test objects and details parts.... Edit: I think the package is really buggy, as slope is ranged between 0 and 90°, but sometimes the range changes to 0->1 for no reason (and then only flat surface are textured), and you must remove and re-add the texture layer to have the proper range anew. When contacting support, I had a reply telling me to join the Discord channel, but even if I posted my bug on the Channel, I had no reply for nearly a week (not even telling me "check in progress"). Looks like when you buy this product, you shouldn't expect any support. Considering these points, I can't recommend buying the Unity version for now. Edit: I confirm no support can be expected on the product. When contacting the publisher, they will ask you to post your problem on their Discord channel then never reply again, waiting for the 2 weeks delay to pass. So for the Unity version of the product. I feel stolen. Don't trust! In my opinion, the asset is not compatible with last versions of Unity, and the publisher still sells it, don't support, and don't care about it working or not.

Not good

zoomyjson previous version 2.7.0
I've used this asset off and on for a year and can never make the terrain I want. You will spend years playing with the strengths levels ect.. but since this crappy version doesn't realtime(and no im not buying the pro version I already gave you my money) you can't see what you're making till you hit Generate and wait for it to build. Gaia is way easier cleaner and simple and has stamps don't buy this

Crashes in 2017.x, 2018.x and 2019.x
DavidLiederon previous version 2.6.0
WARNING: This asset crashes in 2017.x, 2018x and 2019.x. So this asset recently has a lot of bad reviews, but I wanted to take a chance on it. I bought it and came in with a really positive attitude. Even with fatal errors that kept it from working, I kept a positive attitude. I spent a whole day watching the video tutorials (although they don't apply much to the Unity version). I joined the Discord. When the asset was crashing, I did not leave a bad review, and instead did what they asked and I went to the Discord channel and let them know the problem I was having. The end result is that my time was wasted. IMO, the support is rude. If you read other recent reviews, other people also say the support is bad. So, I'm willing to work with this asset if they fix the bugs and treat new customers with some patience and help, especially when their are bugs that keep the asset from being used. But I would describe my experience trying to get help as terrible. They allow the moderators of the Discord to actually attack new people. This was different from any Discord I have been involved in. It seems like a loyal clique, but don't expect to get much help and don't criticize the product!!! :(( I'll cover the features below, but first, there are some concerns I have about this asset. My hopes were high going into this. I installed this for 2018.4 LTS and it crashed, then I contacted support. Two days later they answered and 2019 is required. "You should put that in the Description" I told them. They said it's already in the fine print (the small print on the left of an asset page). So they basically defended their position of not informing people that it will crash in 2017.x and 2018.x. Then on the Discord channel, I had also put a bug report and I complained about it having wasted my time. Then one of their moderators started making personal attacks that had nothing to do with the bug report or solving it. When I reported the moderator, the WC people banned me from their Discord. I've never otherwise been banned from a Discord for any reason, and so I cannot recommend their Discord channel for help, at least going by my experience. In addition, Unity devs will be constantly bombarded with pressure to abandon Unity, and you should be advised that WC is not a Unity community. Most in the Discord, for example, are using tools like Teragen, Clarisse and few are Unity devs. It seems that the purpose of this asset is to bait Unity devs to buy the WC Stand-Alone product. In fact, the publisher admits this blatantly when they say: "The Standalone version is a different version of World Creator (www.world-creator.com) - much more powerful and flexible and it is also not tight to Unity but can be used for Unreal, Cry, Lumberyard, Godot, Unigine and many more applications such as Cinema4D, Octane, Clarisse, 3DS Max, Maya and so on." There are a few Unity devs in their community but the vast majority do not use Unity, and the above statement by the publisher admits this. When the "Unity versions" are constantly asking you to abandon Unity, yeah, I have a problem with that. So the reason I buy a Unity asset is to succeed with the Unity engine. When I'm force-fed ads that tell me to upgrade and leave Unity, I feel that is not good for our Unity community or platform. The technical aspects of this asset are disappointing. When you first open it up, you will see that it is mostly an advertisement. The tutorial videos do not apply to the Unity version, in that some things are different. So, this was my experience with a lot of wasted time, before I ever got to the point of making a terrain. For making terrains, you can do some cool things, but there are obstacles. For the functionality of the asset, using it in 2019.x, the features of this asset have a lot of potential, but right now they are clunky and there is a big learning curve. If you are willing to learn the features, you will still need a powerful GPU to be able to use this product. Be advised it is a high learning curve and your computer needs to be able to crunch a lot of graphics. If you go through all that, then you have good features. But I cannot recommend it, there are other dedicated Unity terrain tools that are much easier to use. At this time, I look at the Description, there still is no notice to tell people that this asset works only with 2019.x. So they apparently don't care about informing Unity devs about the limitations. If this company changes then I'll improve the rating. But I cannot recommend it to Unity devs at this time.

Hi, the Unity version requirements are listed to the left, below the preview images. If someone gets banned from a community with more than 3000 members, then there is a reason - and your 12 offending, insulting, and threatening emails against our community members and us, proofed that the ban was correct. The decission was made by us and by our community members that followed your comments. Everybody reading the above review: Please check World Creator for yourself - join us on Discord (https://discordapp.com/invite/bjMteus), talk to the community, check the Unity channel as well. We have many Unity users in there using the Standalone version of World Creator in combination with Unity - and it works 100% perfect using the new Bridge tool we created for Unity. There is no reason for us to start negative discussions with our customers because we are publishers - we sell a powerful product into which we put a lot of brain and energy. Because we have created the Standalone application of World Creator, we have reduced pricing of the Unity version drastically. Of course we advertise the Standalone version of World Creator inside the Unity version because we also offer a 100% fair upgrade path where you only pay the difference. There was a good reason to develop the Standalone application because there are many more other tools that now can be used in combination with World Creator - not only Unity. I do not see why this should be an issue so I really hope, everybody reading this, will understand. Best, BiteTheBytes

Hi, thank you for writing. We are about to update World Creator for Unity - the Unity team is currently approving the update so it is just about a few days until available. The new update will include HDRP and LWRP support as well as 100% support of the new Unity Terrain API and Terrain System. Stay tuned and please update your review once you have updated this asset. Beside that, I agrree, to take a look at www.world-creator.com - we have a very very powerful Standalone application of World Creator which has ton of more features than the Unity version does. EDIT: We have updated World Creator for Unity and it now has built in HDRP / LWRP support :) - please try and let us know if it is not working for you. Hope that helps :) Stefan

Disappointing and frustrating when compared with others.

davidlannanon previous version 2.4.2
Ive been trying to use the Unity WC2 for a number of hours now - but there is limited help for the Unity version (where are the tutorials for it?), and the standalone wont accept my email and invoice number so I cannot even follow the provided tutorials on the website. Frustrating. Im not sure why this asset has good ratings when so many other assets work correctly after installation, and for the price, it is not very useful in Unity. Its a little more than a handful of scripts that just control the normal unity terrain. Disappointing. Also, beware. You need a large number of assets (textures, masks, meshes etc) to make use of this tool. Its a little misleading in my opinion and they are trying to onsell many other products to use it. I would look elsewhere for terrain builders.

Hi, I am sorry that you do not like World Creator. The Standalone version is a different version of World Creator (www.world-creator.com) - much more powerful and flexible and it is also not tight to Unity but can be used for Unreal, Cry, Lumberyard, Godot, Unigine and many more applications such as Cinema4D, Octane, Clarisse, 3DS Max, Maya and so on. World Creator is also not just a terrain manipulation tool - it Erodes, applies Sediments, transforms an existing terrain into another kind of terrain and so much more. It also helps you to easily texture your terrain and populate it quickly with assets of your own. The tutorials can also be found on our YouTube channel - just a quick search on YouTube and you will find them easily. Kind regards, BiteTheBytes

LJYIon previous version 2.4.2
HI, I purchased unity version one month ago, but there is no unity version tutorial now. Where to find them? 2nd questions: the standalone version can fully support unity? When input to unity, will it look exactly as it looks in standalone version? 3rd questions: If I purchase standalone version, can i have extra discount, considering I just purchased unity version 1 month ago.
