Not really. I stay with the original tools. I'm unable to use it. Difficult, complicated, unclear GUI and uncertain feeling of painting.

We completely understand how frustrating it can be when a tool feels complicated or doesn’t meet your needs, and we appreciate you letting us know about your experience. We’d like to address your concerns directly. We recognize that the GUI can feel unclear at times, and working on ways to optimise clarity when being used on oddly setup terrains. As for the “uncertain feeling of painting,” we’d love to get a better sense of what you mean. Could you share a bit more about what felt off? Your input would really help us pinpoint the issue and improve things moving forward. That said, we're proud that so many users have found the product powerful, easy to use, and intuitive, evident by the feedback we received over the years (including a considerable percentage of the reviews that got lost during a store migration). But every perspective matters, and your feedback is just as valuable in helping us make PP better for everyone. We also want to apologize for the slower pace lately, including a bug report from a few months back that we haven’t been able to tackle yet. Life has thrown some of toughest challenges our way recently. We've also had to take on a demanding jobs to keep things afloat, which has made prioritisation much harder. We're not sharing this to make excuses, but to give you some context about why things have been more quiet on our end. In the meantime, if you’re still open to giving it a try, we’d suggest checking out our tutorial section and the documentation. They'll probably help navigating the interface and getting more comfortable with the tool. Feel free to reach out with any questions too. We're here to help. It works as simply (actually it was easier!) as I had hoped some other similar assets would work. This is now my default road and path system.

役に立つだけでなく使用方法が分かりやすい。表題にも書いたが使用方法はすぐに理解が出来る。 自分は道を作るだけで無く岩の地形をくり抜いて洞窟マップを作成するのにも利用している。 高さを一定にする「set height」モードが無いのが唯一残念と感じます。

Essential for any kind of terrain editing. I'm using it for hand painting terrain, but I'm also using the API for procedural generation. Very intuitive and set up with sensible defaults.

I was looking for an easy way to do paths, and this is it. I have only done basic experimentation as of yet, and it's pretty simple to use. If I had one request it would be a mode for smoothing the curves of your line once you have drawn a path.

C'est le meilleur Asset pour construire des routes et des chemins. c'est un outil très intuitif et intelligent. La prise en main est enfantine et le document utilisateur est très bien fait avec de nombreuses copies d'écran. Je suis ravi de mon achat. Bravo à l'auteur.

Nous sommes également ravis d'entendre votre expérience avec la documentation. Nous espérons que nous pourrons continuer sur cette lancée avec la prochaine version qui est en préparation depuis un certain temps. Nous avons l'intention de rendre cela très intuitif et facile à utiliser avec de nouvelles fonctionnalités améliorées, tout en le rendant simple à personnaliser et à étendre. Au fil des ans, cela nous a peiné à chaque fois que nous ne pouvions pas aider certains membres de notre communauté bien-aimée avec quelque chose de personnalisé, et progressivement une vision est apparue de la façon dont nous voulons permettre aux utilisateurs d'atteindre même les cas extrêmes. Nous espérons sincèrement que nous y parviendrons tout en respectant nos principes fondamentaux. Injecter de nouvelles fonctionnalités est facile, mais nous nous sommes abstenus de le faire, car cela entraîne souvent une détérioration du produit. We hope we can keep this up with the next version that has been in the works for a while. We intend to make that very intuitive and easy to use with new, improved features, while also making it simple to customise and extend. Over the years it pained us every time when we couldn't help some of our beloved community members with something custom, and gradually a vision appeared of how we want to enable users to achieve even the edge cases. We truly hope we will be successful achieving this while sticking to our core principles. Pumping in new features is easy, but we refrained from doing that, because it often results in product deterioration. Doing what we want while keeping the Asset intuitive and very easy to use is hard, if even possible, but we wouldn't have created the complex system that made Path Painter features possible before Unity made their own terrain tools if we were not willing to do the hard work, so we are optimistic that we will tame this beast as well.

Thank your for your kind review Che2010, and taking the time to share your experience and opinion with others. It's appreciated. We hear you. We have been planning some big things and there's something already in the works that will change the whole mouse painting experience. A few things that might help in the meantime: It's important to select a good view point to paint from. For painting, you'll want to position your scene view, like you would position yourself over a piece of paper. Looking straight at where you want to paint at a close to perpendicular angle, not too close, but not too far either. We discuss this in some of our videos. For example, painting from a side view, we might not realise that where we are actually pointing on a non-flat surface with the brush is a totally different path than what we had in mind. Believe it or not, in the early days, we ourselves thought that there were issues and debugged this. This is how the trace of your painting (white line) has been added. With the line we realised that Path Painter actually did the right thing, we just didn't point where we wanted (straight line painting was also added to not have to reposition the scene view for everything). We used the line to debug this and then thought it would be nice to have it all the time. Another thing that can happen is if we paint from too far, because the resolution of our viewpoint is a limit (this resolution is around the same as what the scene view takes up on your screen). This is a discrete space (a raster), so it doesn't have an infinite accuracy. When it comes down to it, it's only possible to tell which little square your mouse is in, so to speak. So your pointing will become more and more jagged with distance. We hope this helps, but don't forget that you can find us on Discord or send us a ticket if you have any more questions or comments.
