Edited* Jason's response was totally accurate and improved blends significantly. If you use the tool properly it is 5 stars. ;-) I only used the anti tiling feature so far and it definitely solves that problem. Takes a bit getting used to in order to optimize as there are a lot of options. I'm a total novice but following videos and reading documentation I was able to get it to work. It also seriously bumped up the FPS. The issue I was having (using 6.0) when Installed is my smooth edges on curved surfaces using pinch tool disappeared due to height blend and they appeared jagged. I switched to the unity linear blend option and I could not get a smooth edge. I thought you could use different UV sizes to adjust textures to your liking, and you can but, that will cause blending issues of those layers. My mistake. Jason responded immediately to question on discord. Hope that helps.

There's no special data written by Unity's terrain tools based on which tool your using- it's just weight maps. And when using Unity Linear, they are blended exactly the same as they are with Unity's shader (blurry). My guess is that you have the UV tiling or texture resolution set differently on your texture arrays.

A really nice set of modules for a nice discount. This collection is well thought out, it really has everything I wanted from MicroSplat without having to splurge for the ultimate bundle. Good stuff!

I have to admit - I found Microsplat difficult at the beginning - the concept simply didn't make sense to me. Then I read the documentation. Afterwards I read the documentation again and last but not least I read the documentation - really!!!
Then I started integrating SBSAR Files into my project - it's incredible, it's fantastic, it's...
I would like to say that with MS I have the game changer - in the truest sense of the word.

You should know MicroSplat is leaps and bounds above
other terrain shaders & it's better than Unreal terrain imo.
the author used many tricks from the gaming industry
and looks like he invented some of his own..
there was a time I wished Unity would buy the entire
MicroSplat ecosystem and implement it natively
but now I thank god they don't..
Unity would not have keep updating 1/3 of what
Jason has been adding over the years to this shader.
it is IMHO the best terrain shader available for the public
also you should definitely check BetterLit (same author)
I can't imagen my workflow without MicroSplat and BetterLit

I've been using the MicroSplat collection along with some of the other released addons for a while now and it's fantastic!
Plenty of options and customisation to allow you to tailor everything exactly as you need it for your target platform and project requirements.
I use it with standard Unity terrain with lower poly mesh terrains for distance views, that get swapped out as the player moves around, and it works perfectly. The extra features such as snow, lava, and tessellation make it look amazing.
