Overcomplicated

Zappyyon version 1.10.10
It takes a long time to get even basic terrains, and if you want to do something specific it's probably faster to do it manually with the existing terrain tools.

Better than Map Magic 2

MightyDubsteron previous version 1.10.9
I am still unsure which tool was supposed to be more cutting edge, but in my opinion, this tool is more mature than Map Magic 2. It takes a lot of work to master this, this is no lightweight tool, but the results I got were really impressive. In the end, I was trying to use Voxeland, for run time destructable terrain, and that didn't end well for me, but if you don't need that, this combined with some other tools will give you some really nice results. BTW, if you get stuck with the heightmaps being in an arcane, almost entirely unsupported format, I wrote a cheesy, but effective C# PNG to heightmap converter. In the end, I went with Gaia Pro for the bundle of features. There are benefits and draw backs to stamp vs procedural. If you really want procedural, though, you really want Map Magic World Generator.

I switched back from MapMagic2 and I can say that, this is far better and maturer than every terrain asset - even better than MapMagic2 :D Art of engineering, well done!

It does require some practise, coffee, underground system for understanding,... maybe 1 year of node builds and node saves for your Adventure finally to begin...

Must-have for large terrain generation
Stardogon previous version 1.10.9
Allows you to generate noise maps, modify them, blur them, layer them, etc, then apply them to a regular Unity terrain. For example, you can generate a small noise map (hills), then layer on top a more intense/larger version (mountains), then blend them together. It will also place prefabs/grass/trees for you, and texture your terrain. You can set it up so stone textures will only appear on slopes and up high, grass will not appear on stone textures, only on flat land. And make it so bushes only get placed near trees. It supports rotating and aligning them with the terrain and some more advanced object generators. It has some advanced modifiers such as terracing, for a stepped terrain, and erosion to simulate water running down a mountain, and many more generators and adjustment nodes. You can also create basic shapes, such as circles for masking, which can allow you to hand-place where your mountain layer will appear, as if you are 'stamping' it, to make a terrain feel more hand-made. There is also infinite terrain generation, which will generate more terrains as you approach the edge, and stitch them together perfectly. The good part of MapMagic is that it doesn't take over your project. There is only one MapMagic component required, and no need to register prefabs or anything. It won't do anything more than you tell it do in the graph. It makes generating terrains very easy.

Prevent anything growing under water level
6 years ago
jkotamakion previous version 1.10.9
Hi, Is there a simple way of preventing anything "growing" under the water level. MapMagic is awesome but after creating my first "world" and set the water level there's some forest trees and grass growing also under the water level and can't figure out how to prevent this. Jukka

Thanks for your review! Speaking of removing objects below some level you can use the CleanIUp node. Here you can find more information about it: https://gitlab.com/denispahunov/mapmagic/-/wikis/MM1/General_faq#how-to-remove-objects-below-some-level-how-to-place-objects-above-some-level

Does not match what was advertised

df3sketchon previous version 1.10.9
Just purchased Map Magic. I'm going through the tutorial and am missing some key features in the texture generator. also missing key features in the Editor Window itself. I'm unable to preview any of the terrain editing features, I cannot color group selections, and i'm missing the add feature that makes it easy to add generators. if i can get this resolve i'd love to give this 5 stars!

Since you mention preview, selections and add feature you might be talking about these videos: (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8fjbXLqBxvbsJ56kskwA2tWziQx3G05m) They are devoted to the upcoming MapMagic 2. To be fair they are not listed in product description, and not advertised anywhere without the statement that they refer to MM2, as well as I clearly say that at the beginning of the first video. Sorry for not emphasizing this enough. However, you can still have access to all of these features. MapMagic 2 is currently in open beta stage and could be downloaded here: (https://gitlab.com/denispahunov/mapmagic/-/wikis/MM2-Public-Beta)
