Unsung hero of the Asset Store
Oxcakeson previous version 2.3.4
Landscape Builder is an absolute gem, and should honestly be the Asset Store's go-to terrain tool. It's a real tragedy that it's been somewhat buried under the slick marketing of its competitors, as LB is simultaneously the most feature-rich and (in my opinion) most intuitive tool out there. For its sale price it's an absolute steal, especially relative to its more popular competitors. Not only is the tool itself a top shelf product, but the dev support is incredible as well. When I first bought LB, I was experiencing an import issue with real-world GeoTIFF data caused by the fact that OpenTopography.org had switched their download file format to from Untiled to Tiled TIFFs. Within a day of my first Discord correspondence with Stephen, a workaround solution was presented, and within a week, a full fix pushed to their beta branch. Don't underestimate that level of post-purchase responsiveness on the Asset Store; it's truly hard to come by. (EDIT: I also want to add here that LB is not a new tool, and this level of responsiveness is not a byproduct of new-support enthusiasm, but rather just a feature of how SCSM supports their products, generally.) Regarding features, LB is a one-stop shop, handling everything from procedural terrain generation (or the aforementioned GIS data import), to rules-based texturing, vegetation and prefab spawning, and object paths, but unlike some other tools, it also has easy, clean integrations with many sister tools on the Asset Store, such as Vegetation Studio Pro, EasyRoads3D, etc. It not only works well in tandem with those packages, but also provides clean import paths to handle, for example, vegetation spawning using LB's rules system, but vegetation rendering still taking advantage of VSPro's benefits over standard Unity vegetation rendering, or ER3's road networks but still taking advantage of LB's object path features such as prefab corridor spawning. The only criticism I can really find for LB is that its video tutorials could do a lot more to help sell their product, as they're being outmaneuvered by more expensive, less deserving tools on the market. LB's written documentation, however, is incredibly thorough and I suspect most users will come to lean much more on the written reference material rather than the videos (which compounds the current shortcomings of the videos as a tool for pure marketing). All said, if you're in the market for a terrain tool, and you've come to this product and to this review, your quest is over. You've found your tool. Don't even bother looking at or thinking about the rest of them, and definitely don't fall into the trap of equating price on the Asset Store with the overall quality of the tool. Landscape Builder is the silver bullet of Unity terrain tools.

One of the Best Terrain Tool
ash4640on previous version 2.3.3
Easily the best terrain tool hits all the other terrain tools out of the park both in features and cost. Just a bit of a learning curve, once you cross that phase the flexibility and the features this tool offers is just amazing. It does what two other pro software's of a popular terrain tool does and does it well. Have been playing around with all other terrain tools for nearly a year now as I own each one of them and finally settled with LB for both terrain and vegetation spawning. This software needs more love and support than all the hyped and more marketed terrain tools.

Very effective and feature rich terrain building solution
5 years ago
YorkshirePuddingon previous version 2.2.6
As the title states, this is a very effective solution for building terrain and spawning biomes. I have a few of the bigger name terrain tools, each has its benefits, LB offers big-name functionality at a fraction of the cost. It is easy to use and produces fantastic results. Another big plus for me is the level of integration, LB integrates very nicely with lots of third party systems for vegetation, shading, lighting, weather etc. I was a little disgruntled having spent 6x more on a competitors product only to find this can do everything it does but with better third party support. That was my mistake, big price does not equal better features. This is a great asset and a tool that you won't regret buying.

A game changer in world building!

Ryan-Hayleon previous version 2.3.2
Have you ever wanted to use your existing multi-terrain that you have already manually populated and combine it with the speed of Vegetation Studio Pro and use multiple biomes, well you can now (v2.3.3). I have been using this asset for over a year and I would recommend it to anyone and support by Stephen has been nothing but outstanding! Thank you.

I'm impressed

I bought Landscape Builder a while back and still haven't learned everything it supports. It is very easy to get started and easy to go into as much details and control as you wish. There is a lot of documentation, albeit with some small out of date information not current with recent changes. Customer support has been great so far.

Simply the Best Landscape Tool Available Bar None!
magiqueon previous version 2.2.3
After you go through the basic features tutorials, you will be empowered to make the best looking landscapes true to your vision that are possible. I also own Gaia and TC2 and neither compare to this asset store gem. The integration with VS/VSP alone is worth the price. The Stencil system allows you to paint your landscape features and see them come to life in a few clicks. The Groups system with Zones is simply brilliant. The way this tool lets you craft your vision and put it all together with rules and filters is simply amazing. On top of all that, it has multi-tile support and integrates seamlessly with terrain shaders such as CTS, Microsplat, and Megasplat. The only weak point I see is the Lighting and Weather System. While serviceable and usable for someone without a competing solution, it just doesn't look as nice as the top assets on the store such as Azure Sky. But the Lighting/Weather system is just an added bonus and does not take anything away from the brilliance of the rest of the package. As far as support, few asset authors can compare. The author chats on discord and listens to every issue and feature request. Recently, I needed tighter CTS integration and he provided it in less than 2 days. Following that I needed tighter RAM 2019 integration and less than a day later he had a patch. At any price this asset is a steal.

LB / RWT
alicknon previous version 2.2.0
I bought the asset 2 days ago hoping to use on terrains that are created with RWT (Real World Terrain) tool. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with terrains outside. I have even tried to parent the RWT to LB with RWT as a child object. Still the tool doesn't do anything. I even exported RWT height map and tried to import into LB. The import failed. The tool is therefore not useful to me if I can't make it work on my RWT terrains. Is there a way to achieve this?

We'd be more than happy to help you to get this working. LB does support importing terrains created outside LB. Contact us in one of our Unity forums or our Discord channel to get help. This is the fastest way to get help as Unity doesn't send publishers notification of reviews. We also have instructions in the manual which can help you import terrains into LB. We're here to help, you just need to ask.

Cant be happier with the Dev.

AndiRutzon previous version 2.1.4
Haven't used it a lot but so far it's a super awesome asset! I come fro using procedural worlds, and this by far is more intuitive and straight forward. The dev is available and attentive, updates are often and very very cool stuff that I have not seen in other assets! Very happy with this purchase, and recommend it to anyone looking to build large scenes with little effort apart from planning.

Is a complete set of procedural features to build and awesome environment
7 years ago
FiveXGameson previous version 2.1.3
Maybe it seems hard to use it, but that is because is full of features. I truthfully have search over dozens of procedural solutions, some of them are fancy with awesome asset store pages and a lot of glitter, but at the end a developer needs the stuff that get the things done, and by far I thinks that this is the best (No glitter or fancy editors sorry) I will recommend anyone searching for procedural solutions to give it a shot. Also the developer is eager to help and solve the issues and also improve the product, so I'm really happy with the purchase, totally worth it !!

Great Tool
MaximilianPson previous version 2.1.0
It's an amazing tool. Very complete and with a full set of feature that could grant to do anything. The biggest issue that I've faced is that it is not intuitive at all (at least for me) so you have to study it, and when I mean study, I really mean take your tablet, turn off your pc and RTFM from the top to then end, and then start doing some tests, and try while you have the manual on the second monitor. Also, there are some videotuturials but that's good just to see what you can do, 'cause some of them didn't show the cursor so, often you don't get where they click, and even what they do an why. I guess, specific and short tutorial would simplify the users' life I also guess that a "case-to-case" documentation would be also very useful. At the moment I've renounced to use it, 'cause it's too complex for me and I've no time to spend to test/play with it, especially 'cause my scene is 14kmq and each time you change something it requires some time. Oh, it's works with tiled terrains too! That's another cool feature :)
