Powerful but difficult to use.

Its a great asset in terms of capabilities, but there are some major limitations that make the experience not so enjoyable. I've found myself having a rough time because the unpredictability on the behavior of the roads and a lot of bugs very specifically with intersections. The tool excels at simple roads, such as race tracks or small block cities, if you wanna do a much more complex city, this asset will struggle to deliver results. **My experience using this asset so far:** Adding intersections is super easy, but there are moments where as you start intersecting more and more roads, these start behaving weirdly, sometimes the intersections look broken, the nodes attached are not following or the roads are glitchy/distorted, also they're all limited by road type so often is that one road type wont work with another, and if it does the results are not desired. The intersections are also not scalable which is a huge limitation on the system, connecting a road to an intersection will possible end up shrunk if its wider. The last one so far is that at some point trying to revert some changes, the nodes just bugged, causing them to be unusable and not even able to be removed, I had to close Unity without saving as I was basically locked but sadly found myself on a worse state after reopening Unity, now modifying the roads crashes Unity and haven't been able to workaround it, had to delete the whole road system which unlucky for me, was a few hours of work. **Not intuitive:** Self explanatory, in order to use this asset to its full potential you need to learn every single of its features very well, its not something that you can learn as you use as often you wont even realize you were able to do that, you'll often have to go back and forth with the tutorials to proceed with the steps, the interface is mostly good but there are a lot of settings which makes it hard to navigate, some buttons that are also of common use are under these dropdowns which makes the process of iteration very slow. Conclusion: A very powerful tool, with lots of features and customization available with a very steep learning curve, if you have the time to learn it thoroughly it'll be one of your best tools available, but that is also if you can learn all of its quirks too. Its great for simple race circuits or single paths, struggles at complex city layouts with lots of intersections.

Hello Brayan3D, Thank you for taking the time for your review and mentioning that it is powerful. I don't think we have been in contact, is that correct? I am asking that because I wonder if some of the points that are raised can be resolved? For example, both v3.2 built-in and v3.3 built-in intersections are fully scalable. especially the v3.3 Flex Connectors are dynamically generated, the shape of the intersection is based on the shape of the involved road types. So we wonder what exactly the huge limitation of the system is with regard to this? In that respect a road will only shrunk near an intersection when it is attached to a connector that is intended for another road type, in that case either the road shape of that marker section could be gradually adjusted or the road type assigned to that intersection connection can be changed, especially for the v3.3 Flex Connector. Regarding Unity crashes, there was an issue with DX12 and Unity in general starting in early versions of Unity 6.3 that could result in Unity to crash. It is related to Unity Handles, specifically those used to draw the highlighted surfaces of the selected road. There are workarounds in these Unity versions which we can provide, but it seems this is resolved in Unity 6.3.10. Is this possibly related? Which version of Unity is used? In any case, we have yet to see a situation where an entire road network had to be deleted, we would recommend to contact us first before doing that so we can give feedback. And we do wonder if it is possible to get more info regarding for example "broken" intersections caused by perhaps different road types, This is to see in what way and in which situation the results look glitchy and to see if that is perhaps a logical result of the setup of these road types. For example, the system includes various ways to create road types and road shapes, these can be more complex road shapes bases on imported models. This system makes it possible to create your own unique road networks. The free demo package does include examples of that. When attaching a road to an intersection, the shape setup must indeed match. Is this perhaps involved? In general, the asset is indeed comprehensive. Creating "standard" road networks using provided assets should be fairly easy. And in that respect, there will indeed be a learning curve to get the most out of it, dig deeper into all the options, create your own road type and side object presets for example. The video tutorials are a starting point to get familiar with the general workflow and options, and we will be happy to assist when there are questions. I am not sure regarding some buttons being under dropdowns and in what way this makes the process iteration very slow? It would be very much appreciated If we could get more information regarding this so we can look into that and see if there are ways to improve that. To summarize, intersections are scalable and city environments can certainly be created but it is not so easy to give direct feedback on your situation, the issues you experienced, without knowing the exact details. Altogether we hope it is possible to get in touch so we can get a better idea regarding this. That way we can either assist or make improvements. Hello dabolijn, Glad to hear you like the asset and that you are using it for already a year. The main workflow is simple and is easy to start with when using the presets in the Demo package. The "Quick Start" section and the Getting Started tutorial video will help with that. For those whole like customization, the tool is indeed comprehensive and can be used for all sorts of roads. And there is more to come. The recent update on the Asset Store now also includes the v3.3 beta preview with a range of new features, the flex connector, lane data for traffic AI, built-in multi lane material creator and more. Hello, I purchased your package but I'm new to Unity and I'm having problems with importing and installing. Is there any chance you could help me via Discord or something similar? I would be very happy. Currently, some materials are pink, I have installed and converted all the URP support packages, but I can't solve the problem. I only see the default road type in the roadtype section. I'm stuck on these two points. I'm waiting for your help for my project :)

Hello D4WN2, I am sorry to hear you are having difficulties with URP. Which exact packages do you have imported and how were URP support packages converted? URP packages are located in /Assets/EasyRoads3D/SRP Support packages/. They only need to be imported, no conversion is necessary. And if you also have the free Demo package imported (available on our publisher page), then the Unity specific URP version package with DEMO in the name should also be imported. This free Demo includes all the road types and side objects from the screenshots and videos. These packages include URP materials for all road network related assets. There will still be some pink materials, but that is related to none road network related assets, like water or specific vegetation in the demo scenes. If you still see other pink materials, can you check the readme files in the EasyRoads3D root directory? There are URP & HDRP specific readme files. The readme files in the EasyRoads3D root directory include all our contact info, so please contact us should you still have issues getting started, we will be happy to assist. Raoul

I purchased Easy Roads 3D Pro and the Easy Roads 3D Pro addon HD together in 2018. I just tested them in Unity 6.3 LTS, URP, and they work great! I would recommend this asset to anyone. Thank you AndaSoft for making this asset. I am sorry I took so long to rate it.

Just built them roads with easy. It is best on how you can imagine road network and build them exactly. The support itself is AAA, got some problems with terrain deformation by the asset and got support beyond my expectations to fix the problem. Thanks for the best asset.

[Update] Thank you for updating the review! The terrain issue was related to a low terrain heightmap resolution which resulted in not enough terrain points being available to accurately update the terrain to the road shape. Hello Mittage, Glad to hear you were able to build your road network easily exactly how you want it. Regarding the terrain, all possible terrain related issues including solutions are mentioned on the Troubleshooting page in the manual. Have you checked that? It's a very good asset, but the operation seems a bit complicated and takes a lot of time to understand and try. It would be better if the operation was streamlined, or even better if it was a one-stop operation. Will V3.3Beta be released by the end of this year? Or will it be issued as an independent asset?

Hi, Thank you for rating the asset. Looking at the Getting Started video tutorial, which operation do you find complicated and should be more streamlined? And given all the features, what EasyRoads3D can be used for, what would you consider a one-stop operation? Our email is in the readme file in the EasyRoads3D root directory. Regarding v3.3, are you using it, are you running into issues? In that case, please consider reporting them, bugs will be fixed and we will immediately send an update so you can continue if the issue is holding you up. It will help releasing the update. Apart from that all new features are implemented so at the moment it is a matter of fixing small bugs and optimizing code. It will be released as EasyRoads3D Pro, no Asset Store upgrade required. I’m really happy with EasyRoads3D Pro v3. It makes my work in Unity much easier and very fast. Creating roads, paths and bridges is intuitive, the terrain adapts automatically, and it saves a lot of time. A great asset that I definitely recommend!

I love this asset and how versatile and easy it is to use, you can also import real world data, and also create other details next to the world. Also, the roads can work around the unity terrain to create a more realistic look. Also the customer support is great!
