I needed rope physics for a platformer where the player can walk across tight ropes and swing from ropes.
I tried implementing some rope-based approaches and physics using tutorials on YouTube, but the results always led to janky and sporadic ropes and joints. I was resigned to drop the feature from my game.
Then I find 2D Rope Editor. It was extremely easy to set up ropes with stable behavior and physics, and I was able to quickly and easily customize the sprites, scripts, and mechanics to fit the needs of my game.
Great work. Thanks!

I used this asset in my game and the performance and easy of use is very good. I was concerned about having too many joints for a chain would reduce the performance. But, this package doesn't add any clutter and is easily customizable.
Additional functionality is easy to add like Layers, collision ignore layers and any other rigidbody changes.

Glad to hear that you have enjoyed working with the asset and found it useful for you project, please let me know if you have any questions or need help anytime.

Abdullah
Due to the way the asset is written, most of the logic is in the editor side of the code. When adding ropes to prefabs, the editor seems to get confused and the prefab no longer works.
This manifests as ropes showing in the editor but not in the game and game objects showing as having many changes from the prefab after running the game even though you made no changes.
Its a real shame as when they work, the ropes look good.

I had to spend some time fixing the deprecated code to get it working in 2019.1, but it is a great asset. The asset does not list the newer versions of Unity under compatibility, so I expected I would need to make a few tweaks (luckily it didn't take much).
Note - To make it work simply comment out the custom cap handle functions, and then use the built-in cap functions such as "Handles.CircleHandleCap". You won't get the pretty colored caps, but at least they will work.

Hi Pozonu!
Thanks for your kind review, I've updated the package for unity 2019 to replace the deprecated Cap function with the supported one, the package is live now and you will be able to use the "pretty colored" handles in unity 2019.1 without any warning messages.
Thanks!
It works well if you want to do something very simple. And it's friendly use. But i've been trying to coil the rope around a circle collider, and it does, like expected, crazy things :
the hinge joint starts to glinch in every direction.
Same if you go to high number of joints...
Once more, it won't be accurate for what i'm looking.

Hi,
We are really sorry to hear that you didn't find the asset useful for your case, creating a chain of many hinge joints connected together will lead to "Crazy" behaviour and this is one of the 2D physics engine constrains in unity.
Please, feel free to send us a refund request on the support email and we will be happy to refund you.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,
I was looking for something specific and I tried other rope system tutorials, which gave me so many troubles. This asset is really simple to use and I have been able to make the rope I was looking for.
Don't miss this!

Quick and easy to use, overall very good especially considering the price! I ended up writing my own script to then combine this with Dreamteck Splines and get a 3D mesh rope that uses 2D physics with the click of a button.

I was prototyping a game with ropes, at first I made one manually through Hinge Joints, it worked pretty well, but then I imagined how painful it might be to change the width or chains params, so I obviously needed some tool to automate the process.
And this asset does 100% what I needed - hides all this routine and saves me from wasting time to reinvent the wheel again.
I faced few issues with it in 2017.4:
- bad chains sorting - was fixed by setting sortingOrder in UpdateRope method in RopeEditor.cs
- joint's "autoConfigureConnectedAnchor" = true by default - I needed to turn it off, fixed easily in the same Script
I spent ~15 minutes to tune source code to fit my need, so I don't count theese issues as "cons" and want to note, that the code is clean and easy to modify.
Thanks for the tool!
