Best Rope Asset
Allen_Chen1985on version 7.1
It's strongly recommend to use this asset if you want to simulate rope&rod. The developer is willing to assist and always helpful. Response is quick. My only suggestion is to rename this asset to Obi Rope&Rod because I did not noticed it can be used to simulate rod at first glance. So I wasted almost 2 month to implement a so-so fishing rod, while this asset can easily do much better thing in very short time.

Thanks a lot for your kind review!
"My only suggestion is to rename this asset to Obi Rope&Rod because I did not noticed it can be used to simulate rod at first glance."
We like to keep the name short and concise. ObiRope can also simulate bone hierarchies too (https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/7.1/bonesetup.html), so we'd need to rename it ObiRopeRodBoneHierarchy which is probably a bit too verbose! ;)
Your point is *absolutely valid* though. We initially considered splitting rods and bones into separate assets, but the amount of functional and tooling overlap they have with ropes is large. So we felt like it would be best to ship them together, and not force users to pay multiple times for very slight variations on the exact same thing that are often used together anyway.
We will try to better define use cases for ObiRope in the manual, and advertise the rod and bone features more prominently so it's harder to miss them.

It works as designed and very well. My problem was, I wasn't careful with my settings and I went down a rabbit hole that wasn't necessary. The publisher was extremely helpful and informative and pointed me in the right direction. So I highly recommend you keep the default settings, and read the docs before hacking at it or you may run into problems.

Wow, you can do so much with this tool. I saw some awesome VR games and mechanics.
I found it a bit tricky to setup and get all the parameters right. Had to search and ask some questions to the developer. I got very detailed answers and help.
Thanks a lot!

This is a highly complex and feature-rich asset. After following some basic set-up tutorials I was able to achieve what I needed for my game. I tried implementing something based on XPBD myself first, but I gave up after losing two weeks time. Obi rope is all you need! Fantastic package and great work by the author.
Tip: For me, it was necessary to enable Incremental GC in the Unity Editor settings, otherwise my editor went through small lag spikes of 500ms in playmode on the EditorLoop every so often, which can cause problems if you need very stable physics. (This is not at all caused by Obi rope! They can just have an impact on the physics simulation.)

I bought this asset a long time ago but never had a chance to use it. I hesitated to use it due to the "only 4 stars" rating and some negative reviews.
I regret not using it sooner. It definitely deserves 5 stars! It is extremely performant and very useful. The documentation is excellent, and the forum provides great support. Responses on the forum are extremely fast and friendly, addressing all my questions.
I'm a very pleased customer. Thank you again!

Take it from us, developing a Pumper Engine simulation app in VR isn't easy. We needed a realistic water hose asset that behaves the same way as real water hoses for true immersion. Add water pressure and this same hose will behave differently. This increase in tension/stiffness is supported by ObiRope.
Long story short, Obi Rope is the real deal and performs incredibly well even on a mobile VR headset. We highly recommend this asset if you want true to life physics of a rope or hose even on mobile hardware.
Thanks for developing ObiRope guys!

I was hesitant to purchase reading some of these reviews. This is an extremely high-quality asset- well worth the price. It does exactly what you see. It took me maybe 5 minutes of work to install the dependencies. I use URP, so I spent another minute or two replacing materials on the demo scene. If you can follow instructions and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, there's nothing difficult about running the demo scenes.
It's exactly what it's supposed to do, it is well documented. Obi provides demo scenes and YouTube tutorials which are very straightforward to follow. And further, they provide a forum where you can ask questions.
Ultimately, I"m extremely happy with this- I would absolutely purchase from this company again. Thanks Obi!

1. The asset does not offer to import dependencies, and when you first open the PDF file there is nothing about dependencies. But you immediately get errors about the dll.
2. You go here to write a 1-star review and already here you see that you are not the first.
3. You open the links that the developer gave in another comment and install the necessary packages. Everything should be cool now.
4. You still get an error related to mathematics, you fix contents.length to contents.Length. (Won’t tell you where, according to the narrator’s plan, you should suffer)
5. Everything works (it seems)

Hi, thanks for your review!
The need to install dependencies is stated in first paragraph of the asset's description here in the store and the very first page of the manual, which the pdf included with the asset points you to:
https://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/manual/6.3/setup.html
About contents.length/Length, capitalization depends on the version of the Collections package you install. We're working on adding a version define to use either, since Unity's auto API updater doesn't seem to automatically pick this one up.
kind regards,

Sample scenes helped a lot from day 1. One of the best (if not the best) rope physics.
