Works, but its a Bloated Mess

Initially I had been using DWP2 for years, and rarely updated the package itself since I only needed its basic functions. However over time the developer has continued to bloat and tie in unnecessary additions that exceed the scope of the asset itself. This is then all thrown at the developer to manually remove, whether its due to a cinemachine difference with the camera controller or folders mixed with demo scripts and assets, the entirety of the package is a mess and needs to be arranged properly by the creator. If you may not be as good with coding as a seasoned developer then it may be difficult to see but the package itself has so much unnecessary stuff packed into it that it leaves the door open to version conflicts- on top of making the library even more convoluted to work through when searching for specific scripts. So in short, it works but will need to be manually stripped down to what it needs to be and is extremely unorganised. Tried to communicate this to the developer, but was blatantly ignored and have had to since drop the usage of this asset in exchange for a custom system, simply wasn't worth it.

Edit: Please upgrade to v14 - it has a separate core and sample packages! --- The asset has been updated with a major update where only the core scripts are in the package itself and everything else is put into Samples so you can import only what you need. Cinemachine requirement has been removed. From the posts on Discord I would say that you forgot to remove the old version in the NWH folder before importing the major update through the Package Manager. You also criticized the move to the Package Manager UPM approach but this is what all the Unity official packages use and is the recommended format for the asset store. The move has been made exactly due to customers wanting to be able to import only the base scripts - without the sample content. My suggestion would be to try out the new v14 with your project, but make sure to remove the old Assets/NWH folder as that is no longer used. Aron

Just need to add CrestWaterDataProvider to CrestOceanRenderer and everything works. However, please remove the dependencies on cinemachine v3 as well as URP as they are very disruptive to other projects which are already using different workflows

I am removing Cinemachine but URP will stay as it is the new default rendering pipeline for Unity. I hate to remove the built-in support but I can not support muliple pipelines that are not compatible between each other, meaning I would need to have a different asset for each render pipeline. I would suggest writing to Unity, this has been a long ongoing petition from the asset publisher to unify the pipelines.

Check the response to other user. You have to select a different option in the sidebar in Unity Package Manager. Also check the new docs, they mention this in Quick Start. Very annoying from Unity's side. Also, make sure to remove Asset/NWH folder if you had the older version.

RequiredThere’s a problem… After purchasing the asset and using it in Unity 6, I found that only the Sample cannot be imported. Also, I’m unable to remove it afterward. Is this an issue on Unity 6’s side?

Have you tried going to Package Manager - In Project (left side bar) - NWH Dynamic Water Physics 2 - Samples tab? There is another sidebar option which is My Assets and it does not have the Samples tab. You can remove it by going to the Assets folder and then Samples and just delete it as you would any project folder.

I really can't think of how this asset could be better. If you have any sort of ship or boat or floating objects in your game, this is the one to get.

Solid Water Physics Simulation for Unity Projects

Dynamic Water Physics 2 offers a reliable solution for creating realistic water interactions in Unity. The buoyancy system works well for a variety of objects that make boats, ships, and other floating objects behave naturally with minimal setup. Note that the ship controller has good levels of simplified physics simulation but you would not expect very detailed simulation parameters and very advanced ship controllers. For example, the ship controller has "max thrust amount" to simulate thrust per input, and that value, there is nothing deeper than that but I think it is just perfect for my - and many other common - video game projects. Plus, the regular updates and continued support in its Discord channel make it easy to integrate into any project! So far I have used it for my Crest Ocean and Water projects and planar custom flat oceans for mobile and web. I am satisfied to have this asset for more advanced PWC and watercraft-related Unity projects.

I absolutley love this asset! It is so easy to use and the physics are fantastic. It's great that it also includes boat controllers and some examples of how to set them up. I am also really pleased with the support I received, which was really fast and helpful!
