stigmamaxon version 1.5.11
Cet Asset est ce qui se fait de mieux en matière d'océan. De plus son utilisation est très simple et l'effet immédiat. Je voulais mettre 10 étoiles mais c'est limité à 5 seulement :-)

Very Beautiful Water. But has some issues.

NeonTheCoderon previous version 1.5.9c
Edit: In my review I was unaware of a few parts of the system and going off of some assumptions from messages in the discord server that implied there was no support for river bodies joining larger bodies, however that is only partially true. There are still some things about my review like the crashes, clipping views from underwater, etc, but overall this is a good asset, so I would recommend buying it, but I'll leave the rest of the review up for posterity's sake. Edit 2: After going back and forth with the developer it appears that my original conclusion of KWS being unable to handle seamless rivers is correct. He made it seem like the "Extrude Zone" would allow for this feature, however at least in the HDRP version you can only extrude boxes and in the picture he sent it is actually from KWS2 not KWS and it seems he is not going to fix this issue in KWS 1 so if you need rivers that connect to lakes or the ocean KWS is not for you and dont buy it, wait for KWS2 because that actually has extruded water height based on the terrain, it's a shame KWS1 doesn't support this without issue even though it is seemingly advertised. ------ After a few days of simply testing KWS for my project with rivers and lakes I’ve reached the unavoidable conclusion: this asset can only handle ONE water body. Whenever you place a second instance (lake + ocean, river mouth + ocean, etc.) the underwater masks overwrite each other, leaving hard seams and broken refraction. Shorelines on finite boxes poke through FFT waves, and any attempt to run Dynamic Waves or FlowMap on more than one instance is buggy and can sometimes cause memory leaks (which seems like slow bake times) which doubles memory usage and eventually crashes Unity (I watched RAM climb past 50 GB before my whole desktop locked up and crashed Adobe Creative Cloud so bad it re-downloaded itself). None of that is mentioned on the store page or docs. I only discovered the limitation after purchasing, digging through invoice‑verified Discord channels and finding messages from the dev (dating back years) saying: “river and ocean intersections do not work correctly… the only solution is to avoid placing the river below the ocean level.” “I abandoned multiple instances in KWS2 and render all instances as one large mesh.”

Hello, I understand that you've run into limitations with the water and feel frustrated. But I’d recommend checking for possible limitations or restrictions before purchasing an asset (especially if they’re not clearly listed), because I never claimed support for underwater blending on all instances. As for using multiple instances (like a river with fluid simulation and an ocean), it does work, but with some nuances. https://kripto289.com/Shared/Water/water_blend_test.mp4 Technically, achieving proper underwater effect support for different meshes isn’t easy (I don’t know a fully correct solution that works in all cases). For example, RAM just connects vertices of different rivers. But how do you connect vertices of separate meshes, like an infinite ocean (which constantly shifts with the camera) and a river? Or take HDRP water as an example — it uses intersection testing, which causes artifacts and can’t produce proper half-submersion effects. In the first version of KWS, river support wasn’t available (it was added much later), so the underwater effect algorithm wasn’t designed for rivers. Support for different mesh height levels (like ocean and lake) is handled through height zones. As for the memory leak, you should’ve submitted a bug report, because this is clearly a bug (which I can’t reproduce), not a feature or a package limitation. > If you need: multiple water bodies at different heights (rivers, lakes, ocean), seamless underwater without gaps, Intersecting flowmaps/intersections with dynamic waves, do NOT buy KWS You can use height zones for a single mesh. You can have a river flowing into a lake as one unified mesh. Blending different instances with roughly the same water color is visually indistinguishable. But again, there’s no such thing as a perfect water system that works for every situation and covers all use cases at once (some people use KWS for puddles, others for spherical meshes, etc.). > and because it gives you the raw meshes you can bolt on your own post‑effect You can use water depth buffer, water mask, water normals, and other textures that let you create any post-effect using this data (like G-buffer posteffects) > Hidden deal‑breaker, repeated crashes, and the fix is being reserved for a future paid upgrade. Spend your money elsewhere I'm not sure what terms of the deal you're referring to. Nowhere on the page is blending support advertised. Crashes are a bug that I need to fix, but I need more information in your case. Fixes aren’t reserved for future updates - I’ve been supporting KWS1 for over 4 years. During that time, I’ve added many features that weren’t originally included: spline-based rivers, fluid simulation, multiple caustics/volumetric lighting rendering, etc. KWS2 isn’t a paid update - it’s a completely separate project based on full dynamic simulation (shorelines, rivers, lakes, puddles, and so on).

seriously one of the best water assets out there. It looks amazing right out of the box, works great with HDRP, and the performance is solid too. What really makes it shine is the developer — super helpful, quick to respond, and clearly passionate about the work. You don’t just get a great asset, you get real support behind it. Definitely one of my favorite purchases on the Asset Store. Highly recommend it

The most complete water system, BUT

boysenberryon previous version 1.5.7
I've been able to figure out how to make this asset do most of what I need with very little input needed. When I've had issues I've had to wait at least a few days before I hear back from their support on discord. There is a lot of unrelated noise on their server, so getting real support can be a little frustrating at times. So, one star off for mediocre support. Ultimately, I feel like I am a chore to the developer, which makes me less than happy with the asset. I wish there was a better alternative, but so far, this seems like the most together water asset in the store for HDRP in Unity 6.

Hello, Thanks for the review. What about support. I've been providing water support to every customer for nearly 5 years for free. I don’t have a team, so I can’t be online every day - that’s why sometimes my replies may be delayed.

unity_1iNKoEbR39MurQon previous version 1.5.4
I have sent email to their supposed email address and they never respond to the errors that the asset has. Maybe he doesn't have them but since he doesn't respond I won't know. One bug is that objects don't produce water movement in unity 2023. It doesn't even work in the demo that comes in the updated asset. One of some mistakes I saw.

My version is 2021.3.15 and there are a lot of errors in the code after importing but it works fine, I tried a lot of later versions and the errors still exist

You need to remove the old version before importing the new version, because I can't remove the old useless shaders/scripts.

This is a very good best sea asset. However, in the latest version, when played, the white waves on the coastline do not spread to the sandy beach. Is this a bug?
