Incredible asset, does everything I wanted it to!

I can't glaze this asset enough, it is unbelievably convenient and easy to use. The more I explore around and use this asset the more features I find that catered perfectly to helping with making my voxel styled game. Well worth the money, incredible job from the developers. It was perfect, down to the last minute detail.

As I am very into voxel-based artstyle, this asset is *must have*. It enchances your workflow like hundred of times. With this asset, you need only MagicaVoxel to create content for your game. I don't even have Blender installed. I can import voxel models to Unity, rig and animate them, making my workflow 100% complete. Bone editor takes few tries to learn it, but it is very capable. Imported meshes have proper UVs and are optimized, voxels are combined to larger faces providing good performance. Definitely recommend for anyone who is into Voxel Art!

This asset has lot of cool features. I like the way it import .vox objects (no need to use Blender). I also like the chuck fx. Nice work!!!!

I think this asset add some more detailed explanation. I was really surprised. This asset can read the metal data (light emission, metal) of the vox file.

This package really seems to aim to be the one-stop shop for importing MagicaVoxel and other supported voxel formats. The recent addition of the ability to bake ambient occlusion at import time is especially great. This asset REALLY streamlines the process of working with these voxel formats. Strongly recommended.

Really Great Asset - Lightmapping does not fully work

I have exported MV files into Qubicle and did my work there and this makes it SO MUCH easier. Unfortunately, when I import the model and then export it as a .dae file and lightmap the scene, it gives me black seams which won't go away. When I checked the model out in blender I could see that the edges were cut off from one another and fixing this takes ages. Otherwise definitely worth it!

I've been using this asset since I started working with Voxels in 2018 and OH MY GOD, IT'S THE BEST THING YOU'LL FIND WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO STREAMLINING THE VOXEL MANAGEMENT PROCESS! This asset was ahead of its time in 2018 and IS STILL AHEAD OF ITS TIME TODAY. Before I had this asset, I had to export an OBJ from MV, go to Blender and fail miserably at rigging/animating/tweaking textures and then exporting back to Unity; IT WAS A MESS. Voxel Importer has it all! 1. It imports your .vox files masterfully: for example, if you set a color in MV to be emissive, this asset WILL CREATE A SEPARATE MATERIAL FOR YOU and all you have to do inside Unity is turn on the Emission and adjust the color... THAT'S IT! YOU GOT YOUR MODEL LOOKING EXACTLY LIKE IT DOES IN MV! 2. It supports bones and animations I'm going to go on ahead and say it: I HATE BLENDER. Not because it's bad software or anything but because it's WAAAAAY TOO COMPLICATED/ADVANCED FOR MY NEEDS AND MY SKILLS. I can't spend half a year learning how to make a material look "soft", or make it "emissive" or play around with the million features Blender has; I want to make Unity prototypes, I want them to look good, AND I WANT TO MAKE THEM TODAY! So, if you're like me and you don't like using Blender this asset is heaven on earth; you'll be able to import, rig, and animate your voxel objects with ease. SERIOUSLY! 3. It supports frame-by-frame MV animations At the time of writing this review, the most recent version of MV that supports frame-by-frame animations is a really old one but MAN DOES IT DO THE JOB. If you'd like to have a mix of FBF and regular animations in your project this asset makes it feel like a breeze, it has never been easier to use voxels in Unity. 4. It respects MV's objects So if you have objects separated in your MV scene you'll get the same result inside Unity. This is particularly useful when you're animating because generally, voxels don't do well when they get deformed a lot so the fact that you don't have to remesh anything and this asset does it on its own it's like... MAGIC. 5. All in all, it's the BEST asset to work with Voxels. Buy it; you won't regret it. Take a look at the instructional videos, turn on the subtitles, and ask Youtube to translate them to your language (because the explanations are written in Japanese). If there's anything I could critique from this asset, is that its instructional videos could be better/more engaging. They're the same as they were in 2018 and, although they're still relevant, there have been some major improvements in the asset that I think the developer could highlight more to draw even more attention to this spectacular asset! I LOVE IT!

Amazing Workflow for VOX Files!

We've used both this asset and Magica Voxel Toolkit for working with .vox files. Voxel Importer by far has the more polished workflow than MVT. Where we had to use the wizard to import .vox files into scene prefabs, VI uses Unity's native asset import flow with the original file, meaning that edits and updates to the original geometry are way easier. VI also deterministically exports to DAE which has been amazing for using external tools to bake additional textures like AO. We were unable to get a similar workflow working with MVT. There are also a number of cute effects included (voxel explosion, voxel chunking) which adds some life to the scene. Developer was also super responsive via Twitter when asking some URP-related questions. (by the way, everything is in fact URP compatible!)
