Milking the cow
cranecamon version 2.11.10
Milking the same cow over and over, trying to bring you over to a SaaS-plan isn't the right way to treat loyal customers who supported you by buying the asset in the first place. There are other applaudable providers on the Store who are constantly updating their assets and stick to the "buy once - own for life" policy!, even after 10+ years. As the saying goes: "fool me once"..... Back to Blender for me....by all means, get it if you're ready to pay up for the subscription over and over again.

We completely understand how you feel about subscription-based or upgrade-based pricing. However, we’ve prepared special options exclusively for our existing users — you can upgrade to UModeler X Plus with a 50% discount ($98) or to UModeler X Pro Personal with a 30% discount ($60), both as permanent licenses (PFL). In addition, when you upgrade to UModeler X Plus, you’ll also receive UModeler X Pro Personal for free — it’s a 1+1 benefit that lets you experience both products and choose what best fits your workflow. UModeler X offers many new and enhanced features for professional workflows, while the original UModeler will continue to receive critical issue fixes when necessary, as it’s now focused on rapid prototyping purposes. We hope you’ll see this as part of our effort to diversify our products and provide more flexible options for different users. Thank you again for your long-time support — we’ll continue working hard to make UModeler a tool that’s truly worth your trust.

So now you have to buy the newer version?

LynxBroon previous version 2.11.8
Been using this asset and loving it in my workflow but now it seems like they are almost forcing me to buy the newer version where everything is working and this version is like the Lite version now. When devs do this instead of just upgrading the exsisting asset that people love and use i feel like it is a cash grab. I think i will just go back to using blender. This is just another Gaia situation all over again and i refuse to pay for assets i thought i already paid for. All the new version features should have just been added to this asset.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and for using UModeler in your workflow — we truly appreciate your support and passion. We understand your frustration and the concerns you raised. Transitioning to a new version of a product is never easy, especially when you've invested time and trust in a tool you rely on. Our goal with UModeler X was to build a next-generation solution from the ground up, with modern architecture and features that couldn’t be seamlessly integrated into the previous version without major technical trade-offs. This decision was not made lightly, and certainly not as a cash grab. That said, your feedback is valid and taken seriously. We're actively exploring ways to bridge the gap between users of the original UModeler and the new version — whether through discounts, clearer communication, or better long-term support policies. We respect your decision and hope that, if circumstances allow, you’ll give UModeler X a try in the future. In the meantime, thank you again for your feedback — it helps us grow and serve our users better. All the best, The UModeler Team

I've been using Probuilder for a year now I thought that tool was great... This tool though is amazing I haven't even touched the surface and I'm having so much fun making things 10/10 worth the price!

Good asset, I recommend it.

Can't say I have worked out the full way of using this extension. However it certainly makes it much easier doing it inside unity. I would recommend this to any modellers who want to do this within unity. It will make it easier in the long run, being able to do these things within the same place. Even though I don't have experience using this much, what I have done would have been much harder within another software.

Thank you so much for the kind words and recommendation! I’m really glad to hear that the tool is already making things easier for you inside Unity. It’s great to know it’s helping streamline your workflow, even at this early stage. I hope it continues to be a valuable part of your modeling process, and feel free to reach out if you ever need any tips or support along the way. Happy creating!

(updated review) I had a chance to work with the developer of this tool and find ways to do what I wanted. You can achieve great things with this inside of Unity.

Thank you so much for leaving a review about our product. Your feedback, as well as the insights you shared with our community, has been incredibly valuable. You shared your goals with us, and we can see how our features can help address them. Maya and Blender are indeed excellent tools, but Uodeler has the advantage of allowing you to model directly within Unity. Our goal is to achieve sustainable development while maintaining these advantages. Please feel free to revisit our Discord community anytime. We always welcome feedback and will do our best to incorporate what users want. Best regards, Yongju

JakartaIlIon version 2.11.10
You will still have to buy a new version (x,plus, pro, etc.) - 100$. And the new version requires an internet connection. They've gained popularity and now they've decided it's time to tighten the screws. Instead, download the blender, it's simpler, faster, better, free and the keyboard shortcuts actually work in the Linux version. As for sincerity and trust, all of the developer’s replies to reviews are written using ChatGPT.

Thank you for your feedback, but I believe there might be some misunderstanding regarding UModeler X Plus's internet requirements. UModeler X Plus does not require a constant internet connection to function. An internet connection is only needed for updates, which is standard practice for Unity Asset Store packages. Regarding the price point, we've actually added significant value with new features in the Plus version, including offline functionality. While Blender is indeed an excellent tool, UModeler X Plus serves a different purpose by providing seamless integration with Unity, allowing for direct 3D modeling within the Unity editor. If you have any specific concerns or questions about our features or pricing, please feel free to reach out. We're always here to help clarify any uncertainties. Best regards

Umodeler is not that bad, it has some bugs but it's a nice tool. The sad part is to pay +60$ (with a discount) to have their new version

DEMMERSon previous version 2.11.8
Parts of the system that were working in older updates, are no longer working. The response I'm getting is just get the new version, "its fixed there." Not the best response anyone would like to get, when working with a tool that has been an integral part of my workflow, and just all of a sudden is having issues.

Still digging into it and all it can do, but so far its been great for some quick room prototyping. Being able to work directly in unity is fantastic. Was easy to set up and the documentation thus far has been excellent. If you need a modelling tool or if you are looking to improve your workflow, I recommend checking this out!

bryjcioon previous version 2.10.14
In the promotional videos, everything looks beautiful. However, when you try to use, some tools in practice, stairs appear. For an hour I tried to make a flat pool surface in a custom shape using Line Tool. I couldn't do it, because Line Tool snaps the height to an unknown element, so instead of a flat object, I got an object bent on all sides. There is no option to turn this off. I had to improvise with other tools to make a FLAT OBJECT. This tool is not worth the price. Better to use free alternatives.

Hi Bryjcio, Thank you for sharing your experience with our software. We're sorry to hear that you encountered difficulties while trying to create a flat pool surface using the Line Tool. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as expected. It sounds like the snapping feature is enabled, causing the cursor of the Line Tool to snap to a specific height. You can try it again after turning off the snap in the Settings window. Settings window : https://umodeler.github.io/settings.html Could you share a video clip or some screenshots demonstrating your issue via email or our Discord server? We would like to assist you so that you can utilize UModeler to its fullest potential. Email: contact.support@umodeler.com Discord: https://discord.gg/jvZmTkKbfF Thank you again for bringing this issue to our attention. Best regards, Jaesik
