I absolutely don’t understand all those five-star reviews. I don’t consider myself technically incompetent, but I spent the whole night wrestling with that horrific mess. The manual didn’t help. ChatGPT didn’t help. BEZI didn’t help. I wasn’t able to bake a single damn prefab. When I finally found the right path, it kept complaining about something else. Can’t do this, can’t do that. Would it really kill you to make a simple tool where you drop in a prefab, press a button, and it just bakes together? For that price, it really should be more user friendly.

The asset is very good for optimizing meshes to reduce draw calls! Easy workflow, great documentation.
But what I love the most is the developers standpoint on asset development. This asset has been out since 2012 and once you bought it you get all updates forever. There is no "MeshBaker 5.0" that you have to buy again and again, you simply own it.
I LOVE that and I wish more developers use this business model.
Ian keep up the good work! You are an amazing developer.

Good Lord, this is a bad one.
I have been developing games for years. Recently, I shifted focus to mobile development where iOS limitations (like the 3GB RAM cap) force you to optimize aggressively. When you don't have a team of 3D artists, you turn to assets like this one to help. Big mistake.
Let’s ignore the terrible workflow (which is sadly common with poorly designed assets) and focus on the core functionality: it is broken. If you try to bake a scene with many items (like a shop interior), the texture baking is completely erratic. It applies random textures to walls and floors, resulting in a single massive mesh that looks like a giant patchwork quilt made by a clown.
Sure, you could manually divide the atlases and create multiple UVs to fix it, but then what is the point of using an automation tool?
This is a hard pass. It is genuinely one of the few times I have been this disappointed by an asset.
To add insult to injury: I bought this at FULL PRICE this morning, only to see it go 50% OFF tonight after struggling with it all day. Of course, no refund is available. Do not waste your money.

I’m currently preparing to become a client programmer and working on solo development.
Seeing such incredibly advanced techniques honestly made me feel a bit overwhelmed.
I’ll make good use of it. Thank you!

Batches

I added this asset to my project. And like in the basic video, I grouped the objects like houses, walls etc. with mesh baker. My batch value in the game decreased, so far it's good. The initial batch value was 800 but it decreased to 600. But before the baker process, I started getting 202 fps from my game where I was getting 215 fps. The performance and fps in Unity increased, but I encountered this problem while building my game. Why did this happen? I followed all the tutorials in the videos and did everything they said one by one.
Also if your scene has dynamic lighting like mine this will lower the fps even more because when drawing shadows objects made with Mesh Baker will be doubled.

The asset does what it claims to do, it is quite simple to use, the tutorials are short and straight to the point, you can do it on your own but I think the asset should be part of your toolkit that helps you invest development in other sections and makes it easier for you to optimize.

If you consider to buy it or wonder is it worth your money, stop wasting your valuable time from this moment.
You would not regret, this tool is that good and essential that I question my ability to think logically because I waited so long to purchase and start using it.
Just have a look at tutorials, each ~4min video clip, you will understand that author knows what you need, why and how make to use it as simple as possible.

I was having some struggles with my game and some questions on how I could make it better with this tool and the dev helped me quickly! I had a call with Ian and he figured out what was happening. I felt so grateful to have this support.

Okay, but far from perfect...

Complex and not intuitive, this tool does what it "says" but in the most difficult ways, it lacks simplicity, elegance and intuitively (same functionality is easily archived with Unity's own Mesh.CombineMeshes API)...
