I was about to integrate I2 Localization into my project, but before moving forward, I wanted to check if it's still the best option. I was surprised by the number of recent negative reviews, which seemed to indicate the asset may have been abandoned. I tried to reach out to the developer via their forums. But this is broken and the last post was 3 years ago. I have to conclude that this asset has been abandoned. Unity have their own localisation package now. I am going to use this.

It does say it supports Unity 6 in the updates, but it's not, so know what you are getting.

I used I2 Localization in a production project and strongly regret it. After switching to Unity’s built-in localization system, I2 left behind broken, invisible script references that caused 90+ untraceable errors when entering Play Mode. These could not be found using any detection scripts, prefab tools, or Unity's search system. It took deep investigation and scene reconstruction to clean them out — a massive time sink. ⚠️ Warning: Simply removing the asset is not safe. You will likely be left with corrupt prefab or scene data that Unity cannot expose through normal means. This makes debugging incredibly frustrating. ❌ Seems abandoned mostly ❌ Breaks your Scene probably ❌ Ui/UX is a chore (prof. Designer) Unity's official Localization package is now stable, supported, and far more robust If you're starting fresh: use Unity's built-in system. It's fully supported, integrates with Addressables & GoogleSheets, and avoids the long-term technical debt I2 introduces. I2 was once great — but it's now a liability.

So the problem has be reported so many times by now and still there is no reaction.. why does unity even allow this asset in the market at this point? "Google Spreadsheets and CSV files Link external Spreadsheets and any change will be automatically downloaded, even after the game is released." - lies... it is not working

I really do not understand why this plugin has so high rating. Language source in Inspector just lacks of simple user friendly experience. You can not search term from inspector when using Localized String. UI always stucks when you try to change catgory. The bigger the project, the more difficult to handle this plugin. You can create category, but can not filter list by that category. It feel just that this plugin is still in beta
