Bakery fails to apply to AltspaceVR.

I applied Bakery to build it, but an error popped up and it didn't work. I bought it for AltspaceVR, but I absolutely need it. Help Error message: TLS Allocator ALLOC_TEMP_THREAD, underlying allocator ALLOC_TEMP_THREAD has unfreed allocations, size 170

This asset is AMAZING when it works and I know a lot of people think this is inaccurate, or gives different final results in comparison to the preview this asset provides. I truly love this asset but man, I've had the same glitch or bug every time I've used this asset. It works for a while, then bam for some reason the preview window just closes whenever I press the view preview completely defeating the whole point of this addon. Like I said, when it works, it is absolutely amazing and gives a very fast rough estimate of what your light probes would look like when baked. It helps you lock in the look you want, (in terms of lighting) like x5 times faster then using bakery's render button, which is still relatively fast, but this addon allows you to view a preview of your scene every time you click the mouse. Like I said this asset is truly worth its price when it works, but the one glitch I've been having has made it VERY un-useful :(. If the dev sees this, Basically ive tested this addon with unity versions 2019, 2020, and 2021 (my current version with the asset), and have ran into the same glitch. I use it in a project for a while, then something happens and it starts doing that thing where it closes the second i press open and repeats that cycle every time i click open preview totally defeating the purpose of this addon.

I forgot about this review section for a while... sorry! I'm pretty sure this issue is fixed by now. Can you try updating via the patcher? I'm also uploading the new version to the store right now ._. Please email me if you'll have any issues.

Good Asset - But disappointing in a crucial aspect

The Asset is solid and works well, but, gets kind of pointless artistically if you work in a Scriptable Render Pipeline with tonemapping(ACES), in my case URP. It does not take tonemapping into account in its preview window. This means that the previewed scene looks vastly different in lighting intensities than the final result in your game with tonemapping. I would have expected this to be available for the price, really. It jus shows you the scene preview without tonemapping applied, everything is a lot brighter and hard to estimate the final result this way. I feel this is a severe limitation, considering it being advertised as a means to preview. There are still time savings by using this for iterating on your lighting setups in real time, but for really artistic tuning, it introduces a lot of guess work when using tone mapping, for which you have to re-bake a lot of times even despite using this, kind of defeating a major point of this asset. I would still recommend it for the price if you are stuck doing lighting in Unity opposed to the much worse built in light bake options. Especially if you already own Bakery, which actually makes Unity's Lightmapping usable.

That's true, I couldn't find a way to make URP/HDRP post-processing work over the preview. Quite tricky. I did manage to make it work with the built-in RP post-processing at least. I'll try to find some way for the SRPs. The usefulness of post-processing preview is varying depending on your project setup, e.g. in some games un-post-processed image is just unviewable, and in some it's only slightly off.

Bakery + real-time preview is an excellent asset!

I got the Bakery asset from an Humblebundle a while back and decided to try it out after struggling with Unitys built in solution. This is an EXCELLENT asset that easily could cost 2x as much still be cheap and valuable. This is a must have if you use Bakery! Dont hesitate and purchase this asset to your collection.

Works better than I could ever imagine. Saving hours with this asset. No exaggeration. I can tweak my scene and get previews in a few seconds. Wish I used this a long time ago. Thanks for this great asset.

What stands "preview" for?

Preview is to see "approximated" result before baking. So its easier to iterate. Problem is that its extremely hard and time consuming to setup the baker + preview to be the same. I didnt manage even with community help, to setup the preview baker to at least be close to the actual results. (Preview ok, scene dark, or vice versa, because of messy weird objects for the lightmatter, so you NEED to have 2 Dir. lights. One for baker and one for scene, with same values and positions ofcourse) The plugin is as its parent Bakery GPU Lightmapper, still feels like unfinished and not really well thought through "addon" for the plugin. For example "match scene settings to preview" would be great, and naming consistency throughout entire plugin and unity should be considered a must. For now I see it as a waste of $ unfortunately. But its a good idea if it works properly. Most people buy this baker and previewer to struggle less with unity stock ones, but it feels exactly the same mess, so I dont see the point of this entire plugin. Also dont get your hopes up because of refund, what unity says there it isnt covered by "doesnt work as intended" or "way more complicated than unity lightmapper", you wont get your $ back.

Not that close to the final result

Bakery is an incredible light-mapper. But the real time preview really feels half-baked. As an example, I was trying to light map an interior room lit by natural light through the windows -- which requires tons of tweaking of parameters, messing with indirect intensities, etc, to get it so the whole room looks bright without the parts under the windows being blown out. But the final bake never felt close to the preview (and the noisiness of the preview doesn't help -- I know this isn't really something that can be solved though). RTGI is a very challenging thing, especially in a case like that where most of the illumination is 4 bounces down and exposure differences start to become very apparent. For the price, it's worth picking up if you already have Bakery. Just don't walk in expecting to be able to tweak your lights in real-time for complex scenarios. It works much better in the "mostly-direct-light" cases like a room without windows or outdoor environment, where you just need a quick idea of whether there will be too much/little indirect, and not in a case where you're relying on indirect light. Luckily, Bakery itself is reasonably fast.

Hmm it should be fairly similar to the final bake. The only major difference there can be is due to tonemapping/other post-processing. RTPreview doesn't have the same post-processing there is in the game. With the latest patch I added the "HDR" option which is, together with Standard pipeline post-processing stack and "Render in scene view" option should give you very close match. With HDRP, however, it's much trickier, as I don't currently know a way of rendering RTPreview before HDRP's post-processing.
