This plugin is very handy for gif playback. I had some issues with playback of local gifs, but most of the problem was my own fault. Definitely recommend checking this out. It is a little expensive, but cheaper than taking the time to implement yourself and pretty fully featured.
One criticism, though, is that I'd like to see more thorough API documentation and examples. There were mostly web gif examples until I emailed the dev, so I was struggling to figure out the differences between caching a web gif and completely locally stored playback for a bit.

Yes, when using the codeless player handler script to load & play GIFs, there are some variables need to be correctly configured in the editor inspector for local or web GIFs. However, thare is no different for using the API like PGif.iPlayGif(...). ProGIF use the same API, it will check if the input gifPath is a link or a local path, and then auto select a proper method to load/download the GIF and playback.

For transparent gif animation, there are white edges.
And the quality for playing gif is not so good.
I hope you fix this problem

1) For recording transparent GIFs, please try the included example scene and follow the tips in the scene for creating better quality transparent GIFs. (demo scene: ProGifDemo_TransparentSetupExample)

2) The issue(While playing the transparent gif image, there are some edge problems) you mentioned in the email is not caused by our gif decoder/player, it is an issue caused by some of the gif encoders/recorders. Those edges are un-intently created during recording or rescaling the GIFs by some gif makers.
As said in answer(1), we have improved our gif encoder and provided an example scene with tips to resolve that issue.
Please try the included examples or communicate with us if you have any problems.

I have gone through purchasing 2 more GIF plugins before coming across Pro GIF. The previous plugins had bad decoding speed and froze our native applications if we ran multiple gifs! Pro GIF is simply the most powerful GIF decoder on the asset store. It is easy to integrate, has great customer support and lot of demos to get started.

Took me just a few hours to get a highlight replay system into our game, and it would have been faster had I not been caught by the scripting define symbol (the addition of the PRO_GIF_SRP wasn't sticking in my build settings for some reason, and the issues it caused weren't obvious).

Really easy to use. Support is super fast and for once the documentation is fantastic as well. Really well organized, filled with examples, and easy to understand. I wish all assets were this well put together with such responsive support. I recommend this tool from bottom of my heart!

I purchased this plugin last year. It works great in my project and very useful!
Going to start another game project now. So come back to download it again and find more amazing features added. This so surprises me, more than what I have expected and so so..damn amazing! I am very appreciated for you guys' efforts on this plugin!
5 stars definitely, not only for the pro-grade features but also for the high-quality examples and top-notch scripting!

A really impressive asset with many good example scenes, and great functionalities. Well coded libraries and simple API for advanced gif features, easy to integrate.
The output gif quality is good and many custom settings. Seems this is the fastest C# gif player even for many gifs playing at the same time, sometimes can't feel the delay between the Play button is pressed to the display of the first frame. Nice work!
