Works, but it is very slow, especially writing. Also, the compression is far worse than in the original GZIP. I had a file 677KB, with original GZIP it was compressed to 74KB! with this implementation it was compressed only to 352KB. However, If you are only saving files in your Editor, you can use the original System.IO.Compression and Load files with Unity.IO.Compression, because they are compatible, works like a charm! Tested on Android.

I was using GZip for compressing some files when I ran into the issue of it not working on mobile. Luckily this worked perfectly. Thanks for saving me from hours of headache!

Firstly , I wrote tons of script based on system.compression library and it was working great at some point on windows but when I built my game on android I saw nothing works at all! You can't imagine how I was disappointed and desperate, untill I see this artifact ofcourse! I must say that this asset saved my project! Thanks to creators. If you want to compress string in android application, don't think and use this asset! It Works great!

As others said, this is running very slowly. To fix that, go to FastEncoderWindow.cs and comment out the entire contents of VerifyHashes. After that, it works fine.

Very easy to use, I did not notice slow performance, I use it with a ~2MB text file and takes about 200ms on mobile devices. Recommended.

Too Slow for Moderate File Sizes

Thank you for providing an open source solution that's so easy to implement ; however, users should definitely be aware of the overhead associated with this compression tool. After learning that mobile does not support System.IO.Compression.GZipStream, I integrated this tool and it slid into place effortlessly. However, benchmarking tests resulted in much, much slower compression (400.0ms vs 3.0ms). This may be a feasible solution for smaller data sets or one time load/save routines, but this is not for anyone looking to compress/decompress large data files.

After trying out a paid asset I came across this one and works the best. Go figure! Thank you for allow me to continue to develop games and not become a computer surgeon. Extra notes, for some reason it's quite slow in the editor gzipstreaming texture2 bytes, but on android, ios, and webgl it runs very quickly.
