Cash grab re-releases. Asset is too bogged down anyways.
Bentlman1981on previous version 2.1.1 f5
This asset was pretty expensive to be paying for it all over again. The developer "Re-released" another version of the same type of asset while discontinuing this one for what appears to be a cash grab from current users of the asset. I switched to another solution that gave me just the basics and I learned a lot from it and was able to grow a turn-based game while understanding all of it. This asset is way too bogged down to the point of being unmanageable if you want to change anything or take some creative liberties. So avoiding this asset and the "new" version is probably everybody's best bet anyways. What if the dev decides the newer one is also not so great and makes another? is that another 15 bucks DLC?

Thanks for your feedback. I can understand if the framework doesn't suite your need. After all a framework with this many built-in features will inherently be more complicated and not suitable for learning or unintended adaptation. That is a fair criticism. However I feel like I have to defend myself against the accusation of this being a cash grab. if you have bought TBTK2 recently at $45, you should be able to upgrade to TBTK3 for $15. Which come to a total of $60, exactly what it cost for TBTK3. If you have bought this at $60 in the past, that means you have it at your disposal for at least almost a year. I hope you understand that I've been actively upgrading and adding features to TBTK2 for a few years, and TBTK1 for another few years prior at no cost for all users. I feel like it's only fair that the new TBTK3, which by the way was made from scratch with more features and better in many ways, deserve to be a paid upgrade. I would also like to point out that the reason why there's a new version is the very reason you mentioned. The old codebase has been expanded to the point where it far exceed what it's designed for. It becomes almost impossible for me to implement certain major upgrade that I had in mind. And please believe me starting from scratch again is not something I do lightly. I first release TBTK in 2013 and this is the only second time I rewrote the framework and the first time I charge for it. Now I intended to keep upgrade and maintain TBTK3 for as long as I can. Finally, I would like to point out that I still actively support and maintain TBTK2. So if you don't feel the $15 upgrade is worth it, the old version is still perfectly usable.

Great Kit to make a deeper TBS game.

VFXROBon previous version 2.1.1 f6
The kit adds a tonne of stuff, flexible with various things you can add, buffs and debuffs, turns based on side or speed of units, alot of stat modifications eg flanking, critical, as well as movement speed etc. * Great support from the forums from Developer Song and also reliable tutorials to get you going. * Well set out tools to make editing and adding new units and Faction editor, ability editor and a tonne of other stuff to make things quickly and easy.

This asset is really good and the support is even better! The system is flexible and can be used for multiple different styles of gameplay. Setup was painless especially when you have the support of the developer every step of the way. It is basically already set up for you, but it is up to you to make the system your own.

More like a level editor than a template
laymelekon previous version 2.1.1 f5
The package works very good... Fast, stable. There is almost no comment or debug.log(you know incase something goes wrong) but very good structured so if you spend time you can understand the code. Which I did for a while. Problem is it is too detailed... Now is it a bad thing? If you want to build a clone of the game which package owner created, of course no.(In this case it is more like a level editor for the specific game) But if you want to make your own game, big time... A lot of things are hard coded. Stun Silence are deep in the code if you dont want to use them still need to keep them in the code. Its not modular. It is very difficult build your own ability and make it work (Hint to the author: Stun/Overwatch are not ability types.. They are abilities) I even started to modify the code so it can be modular.. (There were also a lot of inefficient copy/paste codes) but its just to much.... BUT and its a big but... There are a lot of stuff which can be used. The gridManager/overlayManager are great for example... There are a couple of stuff which is very usefull. So I decided to take the codes which I can use (Thats where the 3 stars is coming) and leave the rest.

Ultramython previous version 2.1.1 f3
This toolkit is easy to use and modify to suit your purposes. The built in functions are robust and versatile, and provides a great framework for many kinds of turn-based strategy. Beyond that, the developer, Song, has given excellent technical support, is easy to get in touch with and always gives friendly and helpful support.

Probably one of the best and easiest.

al_dudeon previous version 2.1.1 f3
This asset is probably one of the easiest. I can vouch that because I am no coder and it wasn't hard at all to figure out this framework. Dev response is also active and swift. This framework is all-in-one: it has grid/hex config. Unit config. Skill/perk config. Map obstacles config. For the price, you will be saving months of time developing on your own.
