Purchased at the end of 2018 sale. But this time the asset did not work properly already. Developers continue to sell this asset. Please do not buy it as it will not work.

Regrets....

Unfortunately dev is unresponsive. This was a waste of money. Does not work with unity 2018.2.1f1 and playmaker 1.9. Of all the purchases I have made on this site, this is the only one I regret so far. If dev updates this or even reaches out to any of us, I will change this rating. But until that day comes. DO NOT BUY THIS ASSET UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY.

Unusable in PlayMaker1.9 / Unity 2018

** 3/9/25: No updates / comments from dev for 7 years - still selling this asset for $15 - Unity needs something that auto-purges assets like this to protect people from wasting time / money **
Wondering what version of Unity / PlayMaker this runs with?
I notice it relies somewhat on iTween (no longer supported by PlayMaker) - I have DOTween and can convert stuff over to that if possible?
Wondering if you plan to support this further? The thumbnail looks like something I'd like to play with. Please let me know!
Note: Demo scene is unplayable.. lots of commented FSM's but seems like this is basically a broken asset without updates for PM1.9.. - So far, I regret the purchase (but I'm willing to wait / improve my rating if you're still working on this)...

It took a little time to break down the pieces needed to make a 2D Shmup in Unity using Playmaker, but this asset really helps in giving you an idea of how everything works in Playmaker for a game of its genre. I just copied the example scene and tinkered around with the copy until everything started to make a little sense. Still, it could use a more in-depth pdf that explains how to set everything up step by step (and honestly if it had an in-depth tutorial pdf or YouTube/Vimeo video listing the steps for setup, I'd gladly upgrade my rating to 5 stars, because the publisher is great on answering questions and giving support in a timely manner). Otherwise, I think it could benefit anyone looking to make a 2D space shooter with no idea where to start. Buy Playmaker, buy this asset and give it a go.
Also, I'm really glad that it comes with the Object Pooling for Playmaker asset. Awesome deal for anyone trying to develop for mobile platforms. Worth the money!

Buckets of stuff in here that needs real explanation that the included PDF doesn't even bother to touch. Concepts that seem like the author trying to reinvent shmups than actually using expected mechanics of the genre (like the player ship leveling system -- why not just use power-ups? -- and spawning the player into the scene upon Play, which is uncommon) and other bizarre approaches and dependencies that I have to dig around to better understand (why are the characters cubes with static textures on them that are instantly rotated forward? I can't just replace them with a real sprite without further needless tweaking).
Yes, the FSMs are commented to heck and back, and I understand PlayMaker just fine otherwise, but I need an introduction to the system and the author's thought process, not just what the individual parts are for -- moreso when the game is going against the grain of arcade shmup fundamentals. If this was just done in 2D with 2D assets and systems like the shooters it's mimicking, it'd be a step in the right direction. Instead it's just disappointing.

I just bought this asset and I do like it. It lets you see how others work with FSM’s and build up their logic.
The only thing that is missing especially for the normal price is a step by step document or video to show you from start to finish how to build the game. This would make it a 5 Star product.
Please take the time and make such a tutorial. It is not that much and it would improve the quality of this asset a whole lot more. I know Play Maker but others will get a little mind boggled trying to work it out, as I think most of the people that buy this asset buy it in order to learn PlaymMaker or see how a game is built up from the foundations to the finished product.

i see the last review, what a d1ck, this kit is great, a well structured well written well documented starter for a shootem up frame work, note this is a frame work, intended for us awesome developers to add our own awsome graphics, all variables are easy to find and easily adjusted, i bought this a while back at full price, and it is/was worth every penny, worth more even, this frame work WILL make you money, buy it buy it buy it....BUY IT

Hi, Thank you for your review. it really motivated. yes like you said, this is a framework, developers using this can add their own asset to the framework to make a proper working game.
Bought the package since it sounded promising. I did so planning to use an existing framework to cut down development time, and just add a couple of extra functionality. I was let down. Unity crashes when you try to build a level from the ground up (I had already imported the global variables, so you can discard that one out).
I have Unity 4.6 with Playmaker 1.7.7.2. It crashes if your level controller object doesn’t have the player objects defined. It also crashes if you try to use another object that it’s not configured correctly. And by that I mean: an object that is missing a component that is referenced by another part of the framework. I don’t want to be harsh, but I need to ask: since when have we gone from flashing error messages to crashing an application to point this kind of things out?
What is even more frustrating is the lack of documentation. The PDF is just 4 pages and doesn’t say anything important apart from pointing a crash that happens if you forget to import global variables (I guess that is the first red flag). The playmaker scripts (FSMs) have comments and what not about what they do, but not all of them. What about the technical details? Things like you shouldn’t do X, since it crashes Unity (even though code that doesn’t handle exceptions and crashes the whole app is a big no, no).

Hi, you know, you can try contacting me first before giving bad review. you are not helpful to the community by giving bias statement by what you think personally what this product should provide you by your opinion. have you read what other customer said about my support? why not try contact me first?
this is what we sellers are dealing with. we're dealing with this kind of behavior in the appstore where customers giving bad review just because the character cant jump, or the score too low, or the character cant kill. you gave bias review just because the product doesnt met what you wanted.
im a very reasonable seller. and if you unsatisfied with my product or it doesn't met the criteria of what you have in mind, ill be more than happy to issue a refund. instead, you go on my review page and spread hate.
