Good source code. I've been able to modify it to my game and even add VR support (a bit of work). Terrains don't run very good on mobile or Quest, but that's a Unity problem. The developer has been responsive to all my issues in the forum.

Hands down the best mobile runtime level editor
5 years ago
orville_redenbacheron version 1.40
I was looking for a runtime level editor to add to my mobile game and while there are a few available, none of them offer everything MRLE does. The UI is perfect for small screens, the code is clean and well-separated, and Denis provides extensive email support. It's basically perfect!

MRLE is an intuitive asset, and very good at what it is meant to do.
If you are in the market for this type of asset, you'll know that it is worth the price.
I do wish that more extensions were available, perhaps the author would consider implementing common use-cases and sell them as extensions? I would gladly keep contributing to the development of this asset.
Edit: just editing to add that the new release is much appreciated. How do I buy you a coffee?

Does not support latest version of Unity (2019.3 and 2020.1)

{uses depreciated GUITexture} -> needs to be updated to UI.Image.
Please change the removed/depreciated GUITexture to UI.Image and I will instantly change to 5 star review. Meanwhile this amazing asset is not compatible with the latest unity version. This is the joystick code that is broken. Please fix this, I will be extremely grateful. Thank you for your help. I want to use your asset, it is perfect for my project.
Edit: this is addressed on the forums

Great Level Editor
FPVFreerideron previous version 1.37
Awesome runtime level editor, has all the features I was looking for. It is highly customizable, well worth the asking price. Works great on both desktop and android builds.
The editor itself is pretty similar to Unity's built-in editor so most people will feel right at home.
Includes advanced terrain editing functions.
Both mouse and touchscreen level editing is nicely setup, also includes handy keyboard shortcuts.
I'm very impressed by the support - I had a couple of issues, the developer provided quick and simple solutions that got them solved.

High quality tool all around!

The MRLE goes above and beyond my expectations! It works seamlessly with Unity's built-in terrain system, and gives in-game players an excellent and precise tool set for creating their levels. It also comes with some really helpful example scenes, which are great for showing you how to use it.
What I really love about the MRLE is how malleable it is; The author documented its features and uses really well on their website, which clearly explains how to make both simple and complex alterations in order to make the MRLE fit your game. The MRLE is built in such a way so that you can do a lot of cool stuff with it, such as how you can store the level data in a string, and then use your own systems to compress, store, and access it however you want. Additionally, you have a lot of power over how objects in the game world work: You can stream them to improve performance, control what axis they can / can not rotate or move on, as well as a ton of other features. You can even create your own custom UI that makes use of the tool set, and the author gives a great description of how to do this in the documentation.
The MRLE is also chock-full of helpful and useful features. The author could have just done the bare minimum of creating a terrain / object editor, but instead they included a lot of additional helpful functionality, such as being able to take terrain you made in unity's editor, and input it into the MRLE for editing.
The price of the MRLE is lower than most other level editors I've seen, and it seems to be much higher quality. I don't personally use the multiplatform features, but they seem like they would be really useful if you are developing a game that can make use of them. The forum and support has also been really responsive and helpful. 5 out of 5 stars, easily!
