This Is By Far The Best MIDI Asset I've Used With Great Feedback For Any Problem You May Have. Compliments To The Developer, This Is A Masterpiece!

Really the Best Midi Asset

I've been using this asset for a few years and it's incredibly well supported and feature rich. I tried other Midi assets but most got abandoned. The author of this asset is very passionate about music and his programming craft and it really shows.

I have been using MPTK for years and am embarrassed for forgetting to write a review until now. The tool kit is robust, with a TON of features, very easy to use, very well documented, and the developer is the BEST. Quick and detailed responses, updates throughout the years. MPTK is now a complete package.

Thanks for this fantastic asset, it is very nice :)
But for our game we want to create, we found that latency is little too high when reacting to keyboard.
And it is absolutely not a problem of your asset, since having really low latency without dedicated sound card is almost impossible on Windows. We have tried so many things, but latency was always too high for us, because we need to create a Rhythm Game, in which player hears what he actually plays. Before, we had just Rhythm Game, in which players were just listening to the rhythm and they just had to play it with the keyboard, but they were not playing any drums with the keyboard. So latency was not a problem for this kind of rhythm game, since you can always account for the latency when evaluating how good player is playing the rhythm. So we had no trouble to achieve this with your Maestro :)
But then we had this idea, that after some time, rhythm will stop to play, and only the player will have to keep playing it, hearing what he actually plays, but the rhythm won't play :D
And so for this kind of Rhythm Game, we need instant playing of drums, since it is very hard to play some rhythm when not having instant latency...
(We need our Rhythm Game to work on all PCs even without dedicated sound card, that is our requirement, so the latency is challenging... I know, that with dedicated sound card, latency is not a problem)
So we have found this fantastic library called Asio4All, and when we tried it, it is absolutely perfect in terms of latency.
It has such a low latency you can't hear at all, it is instant!
And without dedicated sound card :)

So we are still using your asset for our "Tune tone game" and some other games, but we will probably use this Asio4All driver for our Rhythm Game, since the latency is really so much better than anything else we have tried :) And latency is soo crucial for us.
And so, to be able to work with this Asio4All in Unity, we have bought this asset:

But it is no longer being developed or maintained and it has some issues, so I think I will try to create it myself using this Github repository:

I have never tried to do such low level coding, but I will try :D
Anyway, what is my question is, do you think you could add support for this Asio4All in you Maestro asset and have the same super low latency?
Because even if I successfully manage to create my own support for Asio4All, that will work in Unity, it would still be super low level, without all the features that maestro supports.
With this kind of low level approach, I am only hoping to be able to play drums sounds, but nothing more complicated, since I still won't have any synth or stuff like that available. I would need to integrate it with FluidSynth myself, which would be very hard for me.
So that's why I am asking, if it is not hard for you to implement it, you would greatly help us, since we would have synth also available through you Maestro and also low latency thanks to Asio4All :)

It's clearly a good idea to integrate Asio. This is challenging because Steinberg APIs are quite difficult to integrate and Unity is very sensitive to DLL integration.
I'm currently preparing version 2.14, so I have low availability. It will be better in 1 or 2 weeks.
When you talk about a keyboard, is it a MIDI keyboard?

A suggestion for the future - I know this would be a big challenge, but finding some way to use aspects of this codebase, or one like it, to facilitate transcription of audio to MIDI inside the Tool Kit would be a massive feature add -

Thank you also for the github site, very interesting. This function Audio To MIDI (often requested) would be complicated to integrate into Maestro from a technical point of view unless an HTTP REST type service exists.
I can also propose links on the paxstellar.fr site to enable this Audio/MIDI conversion.

Over the past few years, I've been working on an extensive project working with MIDI on multiple platforms - I've yet to have a need that MPTK Pro hasn't met.
Easy, intuitive, great demos and responsive creator. A fantastic resource I'll be using for a long time to come.

Try the latest version, which is even better sounding and more accurate than 2.10.
Maestro Pro is hands-down the best MIDI package available for Unity. It includes one of the most compliant GM-compatible synths available, along with some excellent tools that make for easy use. Performance is outstanding since the synth runs on its own thread.
Support is also excellent. The developer is actively updating the asset with new features, and is very responsive to users via email, forum and a dedicated Discord.
You will not be disappointed with Maestro Pro.
