It's a dead asset, no documentation or tutorial links work. It is no longer relevant in November 2025. Also trying to import in the project creates problem and want you to start your project in safe mode. If you ignore, then it breaks the project.

The best option for anyone looking for a motion matching solution

This is a great, well written option with a deep feature set. Sad that it's no longer supported (I purchased it myself years ago). Unfortunately the documentation is no longer accessible (they seem to have disappeared from google drive sometime in the last couple of months), which for an asset like this were invaluable. The YouTube tutorials are thankfully still available (at the time of this writing at least).

It became free, but I'm dealing with the consequences.

I added this asset when it became free. I don't know how good it was in previous versions. When I install the asset and restart the project, I get ‘critical project errors’ and a recommendation to use ‘Safe Mode’. The subject of the message is ‘Dealing with the consequences’ because I had a power failure, and instead of creating a new project, I tried to open the project with this free asset. I thought it was a file caching failure or something else. But it turned out that the asset itself now looks ‘broken’ when compiled, and the project is broken because of it.
- One star for creating a strange final version.
- Test: Unity 2022.3.62f2
-- I also installed Strider from this repository, and then this package again.
-- + Installed experimental updates Unity-Packages ‘Jobs 0.7.0 p7’ + ‘PlayableGraph Visualizer 0.2.1 p3’. Now the project loads normally without any code errors.
- UpTo 3 star for creating a strange final version.

Bought this asset a year ago for an arm, now it's free... It has been updated not long ago but there still isn't native implementation to the new Input System, even though the old one has been deprecated for years now. Kinda disappointed by that... And the lack of user support now because it has become free means it's basically a powerful but unmaintained tool with no documentation for newer versions of Unity and of this asset

If you're aiming to implement a true motion matching system in Unity, there's currently no better option than MxM. With its trajectory-based blending and pose cost evaluation, it delivers highly responsive and natural character movement that goes far beyond what traditional Animator Controllers can achieve.
There is no active support or community at the moment, but the available documentation and tutorial videos are sufficient for setting up a basic working system. For more advanced use, you’ll need to invest time understanding the system’s technical structure — especially because each animation dataset requires custom tuning. Tagging, trajectory weighting, and motion field behavior must be adapted per project to achieve consistent results.

I was torn about rating this asset since support is no longer provided. I wanted to give it 4 stars, but to be fair, the asset still works well. There are some issues you have to work around, but these stem from Unity dropping support for Playables. Please note that I’m rating it based on the quality of the asset itself. It’s hard to get into you’ll need to read the documentation and watch videos to understand how it works. The learning curve is pretty steep, but the reward is brilliant you’ll achieve AAA animation fluidity.

Alright, at first i hated it, I couldn't figure things out, but after a couple days of fiddling around, going through the tutorials, re-doing the code for Unity's new Input System. I went from a 1 start to a 5 stars, This has been PERFECT!
Even the User Manual is perfect and outlines every so well.
The only issue i can complain about is there's a lot of bloated code, but it's another option for people if they want. Overall 5/5, amazing asset. Thank you
