Wait before you buy

Here's the most recent review before everyone uses Unity 6.
When I purchased this kit I associated it with "that kit that all the kids want", because it got many cool features: FPS, TPS, Top Down, every weapon type, AI with any weapon and of course Multiplayer.
On paper that sounds great, and so I saved money to get this.
Recently I found myself wanting to create a TPS and grabbed this. This kit sadly doesn't hold up with modern day Unity. I spent a whole month figuring out how to fix: wrong arm rotations on any (basic) custom humanoid model, wrong scale, migration to Unity 2022 but most importantly the AI and Navmesh.
In the end I just got a third person "shooter" with no enemies, as the fix with Navmesh is unbearable and multiple aspects of this kit that no longer can be used as a beginner. This is the 2nd asset where I learned that a Discord for support is a no-go.
TLDR: so if you want to make the most out of this kit, you have to use Unity 2020 which this kit was made for. I can not guarantee performance but as I'm writing this review I hope I can push at least some kind of WebGL game out of it.

Lobby System good but firstperson controller bad

When you see the preview pictures you think that at least there is an Prefab that has an acceptable first person controller with a good aim. Sadly not the Prefabs are aiming with the weapon on the right side and the aim is visible on the right side this should be in the middle. The character controller feels so fucked up. When i purchased this asset i thought i would at least get a decent controller but sadly not.

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear that something isn't working in the kit!
The character controller has many settings including aiming adjustments to fit many purposes. Most likely you just didn't set it up correctly, so feel free to text me in discord and I'll help you figure it out.

the asset is good, but the Main menu with the save and load function is missing..
add Main menu and in game menu with save and load button function and you get 5 stars

The creator contacted me and kindly explained to me how the integration of his asset with third parties works, which seems reasonable to me, however I still have an error when importing the asset in version 2022 of Unity, I already notified the developer and I take the act of reviewing it.
If you are reading this review and are considering buying it to get the most out of it, but you are on a tight budget, you should keep in mind that although the asset is at a fairly attractive and reasonable price, in order to get the most out of it, you need to invest more money in it. buy the rest of the third-party assets with which it is compatible, they all add up to more than $250 maybe more than $300, which is no longer very accessible for some people, but if you are not in a hurry you can get them little by little, also If you're just starting out, I think the base asset is fine for you.
I still think that the discord is a bit desolate but at least the developer is waiting to answer your questions.

I'm sorry to hear you have problems with the framework, and I'm even more sad that you wrote a review here without even waiting for me to reply on discord (due to the current sale, I'm getting a lot of requests and unfortunately can't reply to all of them at once).
As I understand it - one of your main complaints is that you need to spend extra money to buy other frameworks. That's true... First of all, did you expect to have all those frameworks to be included in this $20-40 kit? Second, how do you envision it if all those projects are made by other publishers? And third, everywhere those frameworks are mentioned, it marked as "integration", which literally means it's third-party solutions...
As for your wishes regarding the internal systems of the project, I'll be glad to hear the details, it will help me in the development of the new version ;)

Nobody is abandon! (regarding to the last comment)
I own all kind of controllers... opsive, invector, ootii, JU TPS etc.. but this one i always turn back and i used it in most projects compared to the other. it is outstanding with its integrations and the weapon adjustment system..
everything multiplayer ready out of the box!
and then this price since nearly two years...
i promise you, you wont be disappointed! it is so much fun to adjust weapons and new characters from the asset store, finding myself many times prototyping out of fun resulting a playable online game.
im so grateful for this very polite, talented and helpful developer vadim creating this incredible addon, im so excited what is upcoming..

Could Be Great.. but Unfortunately.. Seems Abandon..

This is my Honest Review of the USK Template. i have about 2 years of experience with it. with in the first year there was some great updates but shortly after the DEV stated he wont be able to support the template as much anymore due to his new job. the road map promised some nice changes but in the last year I've seen very very small updates. as much as I hate saying it it seems the template is being abandon. the DEV does respond maybe once ever week or so to some questions in the discord. but the support really isn't there.. this asset would be a great starting point if the following issues I listed below were fixed but as of the moment I can not recommend this template..
(First Person Controller)2/5
the first person controller has issues with the ADS (aim down sights) if you have aim toggled on in your player controller sometimes when you reload the arms will go in a odd position. not correct position. even in the demo scenes it will still do this. the only way I've seem to get around this is by setting the ADS speed to the fastest it can be. the second issue is the shotgun when the player shoots and sprints it constantly pushes the hand away from the shotgun eventually removing the hand from the weapon all together and messing up the animation.
(Third Person Controller)3/5
the third person controller is nice but as well has issues
one of the major issues is that if you run back and forth to much and do a quick turn your player will fall half way through the ground and your legs will be aiming up in the sky breaking the animation. this is a major issue that happens often. the only way around this is to set (AIM always) in the player controller but then your player can not crouch and you will always be aiming. another minor issue is that the jump has no animation for jumping it has one for landing but not the push off the ground. so it looks very odd as well
(Top Down Controller) 3/5 Stars
this controller is pretty much just third person but it makes the camera top down so all the same issues from the third person controller are still present. with a few others like your crosshair not showing up and a big square being in place of the crosshair.
(Default AI) 3/5 Stars
its pretty decent but sounds don't always play when they should. and most of the time the AI will dip in the ground for a second before they attack. lots of decent features. but only supports humanoid models.
(UI/Menu) 2/5 Stars
it does come with a pause menu which is nice with some decent settings like graphics and resolution but missing a volume slider not a big deal (can be added if you know how to code). no start/main menu it would be nice to see a default main menu I also own the Advance multiplayer addon and it has a default main menu.
Until these issues are fixed I cant recommend it. now I do like it and it is user friendly but id recommend to wait until the player controller is fixed.
My Overall Rating for USK Template is a 2.5/5 Stars

And it seems to me that your review is more about suggesting improvements rather than criticizing the entire project, which is valuable information for me.

Over the past year, there have been several negative global events that have affected my life and also led me to put my own projects on hold and focus on full-time work to make ends meet.

This asset is great and has made development much easier. I like photon but I also wish that there was mirror support out of the box. I am currently converting all the photon code to mirror. Other wise this asset is amazing and I would suggest it to everyone whos looking for a easy asset to build upon :)
