Super confusing and only contains the bare minimum

This asset is not worth the $500. It's not even worth the $250 was on sale for when I got it. It seems to have had a lot of thought put into it, sure, but the video tutorials they have for using it are all super outdated and made with the Standard version in mind, and there's nothing included with this asset to actually explain how to use it. As a result, the UI is incredibly confusing, and it's very difficult to get anything working. Additionally, you're also very limited in terms of what you can actually do with the engine. You can't do any kind of extra modes outside of the bare minimum arcade mode, training mode, and versus mode, and it doesn't support online multiplayer. If you want to do anything outside of the most basic button-basher fundamentals, you're out of luck. As if all that mumbo jumbo wasn't enough, the pricing is pretty shady, too. If I'm understanding correctly, if you want support for bug fixes and updates, you'll have to pay for the developer's Patreon for it, even after you've already coughed up $500. Overall, I don't feel I can recommend this asset to any aspiring fighting game developers in good conscience. Between the lazy and outdated tutorials, bare-bones features, and shady pricing scheme, it's just not worth the hefty price tag.

Check out the new update. I made it easier to navigate with a Wizard pop-up and links to all examples, videos and tutorials. Fighting games is a very technical realm with extremelly complex and appreciated art behind it. Calling it "button masher" shows me you might not be a fan of the genre, and to some extend, invalidate some of the points you made. Also, you understood incorrectly. I always fix and update the engine. Patreon is just something you can do if you want to further support my work. And UFE does support Multiplayer (with Rollback netcode).

Great asset but not for multiplayer

The amount of thought and work that went into this asset is superb. It works very well if using for one player only. If you are planning on mainly using it for multiplayer, you should reconsider or at least wait for any published game to release with multiplayer functionality. Currently, it has lots of sync issues. You can check the discord to see different people discussing about it. Also the latest published released (2.6.0) did mention all sync issues fixed but taking a look in the discord, you will see people complaining about sync issues with that version. The developer also expects you to pay for patreon after paying $500 for the asset to get support on fixes. Anyway, it is a good asset but I wouldn't have paid for this 'source' if I knew that It will be unusable for multiplayer. ----- Update ------ I'm updating my review from 3 to 4 stars. I did get a useful tip from someone in the forum that rollback networking (which should be the default) does not work. Instead to disable it and use delayed networking. This means you can only play with other players in your region without desyncs. I am ok with that, at least network play can be done. Will update to 5 stars when rollback networking is reliable.

Worth the money

As a hobby game dev that can't afford to write everthing on their own it's worth the time save. Also it gets better with every version, especially the 3D Stuff. I'm really happy with it. If you want to save money, maybe wait for a sale.

I read many reviews so I decided to leave mine too (wow my first review ever on unity assets store) ... first of all I'm not expert on unity (just using it for two years) ... UFE2 is not "out of the box = ready", You must take Your time time to mess around breaking things and restarting if You want to understand where and what ... anyway I'm making my first beat em up (probably out by the end of february 2023) and without this engine for sure it would have taken up to 2024+ ... so before leaving bad reviews try to build something and think how much time this engine saves You!!! then, it is not perfect in some script or here and there? shut up! we are developer! if you don't like something just remake it or modify the source code :) in conclusion this engine deserves 5+ stars!!! there is only one more thing I'd like to ask to the developer who made it: to speed up the process of setting the movements of the player I cloned the moveset of kyle and ethan ... it would be wonderfull if You create some moveset clonable in order to have random movements (more than two) to apply to different players: this would speed up exponentially the creation of beat em up game: yes I viewed a tutorial on how to make moveset custom ... but have some ready to edit or clone would be very very very appreciated :)

This product is quite good to learn about Fighting Game genre

I am not too impressed with what this product brings. Although the code quality is not very good. For example, functions that are too long make it difficult to read (this is my opinion, maybe others like it). If you want to make a professional fighting game, you might want to do it yourself, but there are good things you can learn from this product anyway. If you want to make a fighting game prototype in the fastest time possible, then you can use this product to get an overview before you actually start working on it. Developers are probably few people so most of them will not respond if you need help. As the comments say, on average if you're lucky you'll probably get help from them in about 2 to 3 months... Anyway, 4 stars for the large amount of work the developer has done as an encouragement :) EDIT: * Hi, I'm not lying. In fact, you still get 4 stars from me. You can find in your other products many other customers that they are not supported, some even said it took them 6 months to get a response. I just quote what they say, not mine :) * My question has not received any support from you so far, since May 4 (has not been 2 months yet right? Ok, it's 1 month..), but as you said: > If I don't reply to you, I will never receive your email or accidentally miss it, in that case, I'm sorry Yes, I accept that, no problem

Thanks for the input. Depending on the request, it can take up to 7 days to receive a reply. If I didn't reply to you, I either never got your email or accidently missed, in which case I apologize. If you didn't receive an email response, just post your question in the forums or send me a private message. Just be aware that sometimes I might be dealing with a heavy flow of requests which might delay my responses. That said, I never took "2 to 3 months" to answer anyone. good engine. but can't use for online multi mode

I've tried to use this source for webGL multimode with photon.. but in online ramdomMatch mode, users disconnected always, and played two bots on screen without any input on my side.. I've wrote several message to some site and etc.. but I can't get any support msg from any creators for 2 weeks... I think it's uncomfortable action.. I am sad with that problem because I bought this source $500 but can't use it for my goal...

This looks incredible and all that he is attempting to do an Unreal version but, there is not a really clear example of making a new stage, nor adding characters for the 3D version. The new 3D version is new, I can tell, but documentation and video are set for about 2016, (for the 2D version). I try and try again to make a stage but had no success. I am a time-pressed person and dabbing with this thing isn't really successful since I need to work on more important things. Please reach me and just guide me on how to make a stage with 3D and character input, and I can even show others how to use this engine for free if it helps your business.

UFE is mostly focus on the engine and the game mechanics you can build on top. When it comes to building stages (or environments for that matter) I recommend Unity tutorials such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXGzl8IRP_o
