Sure it's not perfect, but remember you're buying a framework, not a Steam game! This framework is the foundation for my game. I'm making big changes and additions, but that's what a framework is for. Now I'm a couple months into my game and the framework is still a pleasure to work with. This asset is actually a big part of what made me choose Unity for my project. By using this framework, I could hit the ground running, and make a simple demo within a week. Overall the code is pretty clean and well-documented. Easy to read. Are there some game and architecture design choices I disagree with? Sure, but if it's a big deal I can refactor it myself. After all, I'm here to make a game, not to reskin an asset store purchase. At the end of the day, the ability to truly hit the ground running with a functional game rather than spending months assembling all the nuts and bolts for a top-down racer, (and then probably needing to refactor my own code anyway as I figure out how to do things better), is worth far more than the price tag of this asset.

ANoobOnVRon previous version 1.3
I like it but comparing to other assets from this vendor this one feels lacking. Top down engine has so much work put into it and working menus for one. This one does not have working menus. Car controllers by defaults are kinda bad i guess its OK for arcade cars. You can tweak the "drift" and "acceleration" I made my car handling alot better now. Its not crazy drift game. It does feel its lacking features based on the price when comparing to top down engine features and the demos. *Edit* I was checking official youtube channel for tutorials on this asset and theres like NONE. I have no problem digging into the code and checking how to start a new scene to create a new track and player etc BUT there is SOOOO many other tutorials for other assets but More Mountains channel has no tutorials on how to set a new scene for this asset? Atleast I could not find it

- the Highroad Engine's got more menus than the other assets you mention. While UI definitely isn't its focus, it's got a start screen, lobby, matchmaking, vehicle selection, level selection and more - the demos are just demos, I'm glad that even though the settings shown there weren't to your taste, you managed to tweak them quickly - there's a full documentation covering all features, the link is at the top of this page in the description

Not the best - MM's weakest engine

Overcaston previous version 1.3
Having used Top Down Engine, I had been planning to buy this for a while looking forward to the jump start it would give me. I have to say, given the TDE engine and coverage I am pretty disappointed with this one, given it costs the same price. Overall, the feature set is quite small, and while there are several examples with assets, it looks like more time was spent on these than the actual framework. To provide some specific feedback: Both the check point system and the AI car system, which would both consider core components, are pretty lacking in implementation and customisability. The AI waypoint system is a barebones array you can adjust, there's no custom UI or inspectors, just some basic gizmos. As for the cars themselves, note that the 'good' car system called 'solid' doesn't have a network example, that's only with the 'bad' care model. I was surprised beyond that at the lack of exposed values that allow you to tweak the performance of a car, and the lack of a consolidated place to do so, given the engine has such a narrow scope. Beyond that, the whole engine still uses Unity's old input system, so prepare to swap the whole thing our to either go to their modern one, or use rewired. It should really be updated at this point given the new Input system is stable. With all of that said, I'm left feeling i got A LOT less than an engine, and a huge amount i Have to outright replace to get anything releasable done. It feels like a lot less love went into this than the TDE and Corgi, and frankly I am surprised at the equally high reviews it has.

I can assure you as much love, if not more, goes into Highroad as in my other products. About your points : - the waypoint system does have a custom UI that lets you drag & drop them, making it very easy to set them up - the Solid system exposes more than 20 parameters that will let you customize every aspect of your vehicle, all in one place - there are already 2 network examples, both are unrelated to the type of vehicle, it's exactly the same logic regardless of what controller you use - the engine uses the old input system still, because the vast majority of my customers refuse to use the new one, for good reason. Thankfully, you only need to override one 10 lines long method to add support for Rewired or any other input system. Drop me a line if you need help with that or any other feature in the engine, I'll be happy to assist you.

Dependency to deprecated unet -, other than that great asset++

MastaMaxon previous version 1.2.2
Importing the package in any recent unity version won't work and you'll be faced with loads of UNET errors. You'll then have to spend time to find how to install a deprecated multiplayer asset or try to fix the code which will take a few hours before it even compiles, then other hours before anything works multiplayer. Updated my review now that multiplayer errors are fixed, the engine itself is great and easy to customize/expand on. Great asset, could be better if it contained only PUN multiplayer implementation.

Unfortunately in the current state of multiplayer in Unity, what you describe isn't possible. Hopefully someday soon. In the meantime, how to get rid of the errors you mention takes a few seconds and is described on the first page of the documentation, hopefully this will help.

Great asset to jump start a racing game

CamperJohnon previous version 1.2.2
I was toying with the idea of making a form of racing game and when I saw this, it looked like it would fit the bill...and it did. Quick and easy to install and I started putting pieces together for my own game within 5-10 minutes. Very good (and plenty of) demo scenes to see different ways to model your own environment. I had a great experience loading and running this asset. All I had to do is one update one item (which is clearly stated on the first page of the documentation) and everything worked just as it should. Not a big deal at all. Highly recommend.

Amazing! :) The publisher was so quick to respond and help! Does exactly what it says and I'm more than happy with my purchase now. On importing the package you will receive some compile errors which are easily resolved if you follow the steps in the documentation. Am giving this 4 out of 5 stars only because the setup is not as intuitive as it could be. Can't wait to put this asset to good use.

Hello, I answered your message within 30 minutes, with a link to the documentation that will solve your problem : https://highroad-engine-docs.moremountains.com/ Please use the support form if you run into other issues, I'll be happy to help you. Unfortunately in the current state of network in Unity, the setup can't be made more "intuitive", there's a limit to how much an asset can fix what Unity breaks.

An Excellent arcade racing game-development asset!

Darknight747on previous version 1.2.2
Just like its more popular cousin the CorgiEngine, I love the HighRoad Engine, and highly recommend them based on the genre of game you're developing (I have all four and same review applies): - Corgi Engine - Top-Down Engine - Infinite Runner Engine - HighRoad Engine. Each of these four frameworks is, by genre, an excellent foundation to build your game on, and each is: - An excellent learning tool. - Extremely well documented. - Awesome for prototyping very quickly. - Significantly speeding up your development time. - Great for tackling a complex or expanding project. - Comes with demos showcasing all major features. - You can put some amazing assets on top of it to make a really polished game quickly. - It keeps growing regularly (a long-term investment). The "Engine" is a "don't leave home without it" type of essential framework for game design, especially if you're a beginner or looking for a very clean and well-structured framework for prototyping and building on, or just to speed up your development time. Between Corgi/HighRoad and Playmaker, they each have their own strengths, and I consider them both essential for my projects (Bolt could be used as a free and Unity-supported replacement for Playmaker I wager, but Corgi/HighRoad has no easy replacement so I'd definitely start there). HighRoad is perhaps a tad less popular than its cousins the CorgiEngine and TopDownEngine, but is based on the same framework and made for this specific racing game genre. Updates that you like in the other Corgi "Engines" can easily be transferred into this one (or just import them both to use both toolsets in your projects). The developer, Renaud from MoreMountains, is very responsive and supportive, he literally responds to questions and issues within an hour or two most of the time (not sure how, but he does). The BEST thing about the Corgi framework is perhaps that Renaud keeps adding to it and growing it all the time, keeping it current not just for now but likely years to come (that has been his track record so far), so it's an investment that keeps on giving. You WILL make games MUCH quicker with it, and once you start looking under the hood you'll find very organized and well-documented code that WILL make you a better programmer. His online tutorials are also very informative. I know I sound like a commercial, but it really is THAT useful, especially if you're starting out or want to speed up your learning curve and progress. An easy 5 out of 5.

olaowoon previous version 1.2.2
Great Asset Pros: The script is well documented. The publisher replies quickly to questions. The tutorials and samples are simple to digest to get a race running in 10 minutes. However, coding knowledge is required, at least a basic understanding of C#. The Soundmanager will need to be edited especially for the carcontroller. And if your buying it for the multiplayer feature. forget it, the publisher didnt design it he/she collaborated with PUN2 guys, and I dont think their supporting that feature again and UNet is outdated

Indeed, this is a C# framework, buying it you don't have a basic understanding of C# isn't a good idea.
