---English--- I’ve always had a dream of developing a game with gameplay similar to Escape from Tarkov. However, being a solo developer (I only know basic 3D modeling and coding), it felt like my goal was an insurmountable distance away without a team by my side. That was until I discovered this resource — FPS Builder. I decided to give it a try and bought it for just 15 US dollars. At first, I thought a 15-dollar resource would only offer basic character models, firearms, and animations. After all, many firearm resources on the asset store cost more than this. But guess what this resource has to offer? Oh my goodness! Besides the things I’d anticipated, it actually includes building assets, UI assets, a variety of sound effects, and an incredibly powerful and practical scripting system! I was absolutely stunned. Compared to all the projects I’d worked on before, mine paled in comparison. This resource comes with a fully-fledged system for character movement, weapons, damage, sound effects, and animations — the demo included is even polished enough to pass for a publishable game! So I used these assets to rebuild my project in no time, and expanded some new features based on the original scripts. Now my dream goal feels just within reach! Of course, there are still a few underdeveloped features in this asset pack. But let’s be fair — this is a project made by a group of students. For just 15 US dollars, I have to say this resource offers unbeatable value for individual developers! And you can’t expect others to build every feature for you anyway. This resource is the perfect foundation, and it’ll make the rest of your development journey so much easier. If you don’t believe me, buy it and see for yourself if it’s as good as I say. Besides, it only costs 15 US dollars — even if you’re not satisfied, it’s hardly a big loss! Why not give it a shot? Regardless of what others think of this resource, I’m giving it a full 5 stars. A well-deserved five-star review — it’s totally worth it! ---Chinese--- 我一直有个梦想,就是可以开发类似《逃离塔科夫》这样玩法的游戏。 然而,迫于只有我一个人进行开发(我只会做基础建模和写代码),仿佛在没有团队的情况下,我要离我的目标永远隔着十万八千里。 直到……我发现了这款资源,FPS Builder。 抱着用15美金试一试的想法,我购买了这个资源。我一开始想,15美金的价格,可能也只是提供基础的角色模型+枪械+动画,毕竟资源商店的枪械资源好多都比这个资源贵上一些。 但你猜这个资源提供了什么? 天哪!里面除了我想到的资源,竟然还提供了建筑资源、UI资源、各种音效资源,以及一个十分强大且实用的脚本系统!这令我十分震惊,对比我之前做的那些项目,我的项目只能说不值一提。 这个资源中,角色拥有一个完善的移动、武器、伤害、音效、动画系统,里面的示例也已经可以当一款发布的游戏玩了! 于是,我利用这些资源迅速重新构建了我的项目,并在原有脚本的基础上拓展了一些新的功能。我感到现在我离我的目标简直是近在咫尺! 当然,这个资源包中仍然有一部分功能不够完善,但请原谅,这只是一群学生做的项目,15美金的价格,我只能说这款资源的性价比对于个人开发者来说再合适不过了!也不要指望别人可以帮你实现任何功能,不过这份资源是一个好的基础,接下来的开发将轻松许多。 如果你不相信我,可以购买资源后去看看这份资源是不是如我所说。再说了,它也就只花掉你15美金,就算你不满意,那也并没有浪费你多少金钱呀!为何你不尝试一下呢? 不管你怎么看待这份资源,反正我是给它5颗星了。五星好评,值了!

Honestly an amazing Asset, Lots of customization, Lots of fun to work with. Opened it up a couple of hours ago and have added my own Enemies that work perfectly with it. Very Professional and not too difficult to work with if you know what your doing. Great work guys!

It's a standalone project demo pretty much, will not work smoothly with other scripts because of dumb namespace conflicts. Better off getting a loose set of assets.

Great FPS asset. In 2021.3 it works flawlessly. There is some kind of visual bug with the shutter of the rifle weapon. We hope there will be more updates.

Don't waste your time or money...

...until Editor namespace conflicts are fixed. "Editor is a namespace and is used as a Type" - a very lazy rookie mistake. This project won't work with any other asset that uses a script that refers to the unity editor object. So that means it won't work with most non-art assets, nor will you be able to use the unity editor object in any scripts you write. The mesh assets in the pack have low res textures and some have animation problems, most notably the guns and floating bolts. These are simple fixes for the devs, but a lot of extra work for every purchaser. A stitch in time saves nine, these devs want you to waste yours it seems, by not doing basic due diligence on their end. Just fix the lazy errors and it could be a good product.

Hi, please allow me to help you. At first, the asset can seem challenging, and you will have to adapt your project to make use of assembly definitions. I see that you have not yet discovered the full potential of this asset and how easy it is to integrate it with other packages. About the animations, they are already being addressed for the new update. A workaround for the animation bug has already been posted on the discord server. Contains a lot of usefull high quality assets. The scripts are well written too. A lot of useful stuff! However, I think this asset pack is for a bit more advanced users.

Very good asset. Also because of the new input system. Perfect animations and wonderful demo scenes. Unfortunately difficult cooperation with other assets !!! for example "Playmaker" or "AI from Invector" can only be used after extensive changes in the code!

More Than Expected However,

It is really more in-depth than expected having really nice default UI with setting controls for Graphics, Audio and Input; Per-object hit sounds, Sample Maps, Muzzle Flash, Tracers, and bullet hole decals. However, there are some caveats. The animations for weapons are read only in the inspectors, meaning that when trying to fix the issue where the Bolt and Handle1 objects remain floating while switching between grenade and syringe (in the demo scene) requires editing the FBX files outside of Unity *have not tested editing with umotion pro*. Mouse Locking/Constraints don't seem to be implemented by default (mouse cursor will leave the game window) but this may just be in the editor. A weird case scenario when using Dialogue System For Unity, PoolManager By Path-o-logical and Node Canvas will cause an Editor namespace to be included giving an error to all scripts using the Editor class to make custom inspectors. You will need to specify the namespace the class comes from in each file, I don't think this is an issue with FPS Builder in particular however, it needed mentioning. "Editor is a namespace and is used as a Type." There may be more, but this is just a quick 30-40min test of an asset in my library.

For now - look elsewhere, not quite a "builder" and not suitable for project basis

It's been almost a year since the release of this asset in the store and it didn't get a single update (and according to roadmap on developers website 1.0.4 doesn't bring gigantic changes, so how it couldn't be done in >6 months is a mystery to me). No updates on documentation as well. The documentation website is almost completely empty and it also didn't get any updates since the release. I mean, at least cover what's already inside your asset. It's really hard to just pick it up and build things up off this asset. It's not quite a "FPS Builder" cause all it has is a simple character controller. To figure out how everything is built and written in this asset will take the same amount of time for you to build everything from ground up. So as of now I can't recommend it. And it's definitely not worth the price ($50). I really hope that developer will focus their attention on this again, but it looks like that's not gonna happen in the near future.
