It's not working for me

I hate adding a bad review since it seems like a really useful tool. However, I can't share that while it isn't working at all. I wanted to try it out before buying and I wasn't able to even make a road yet. Summary: OS: Windows 11 Engine Version: Unity 6.3.6f1 Package Version: v3.2.4f3 Pipeline: URP Issue I can't create roads. I followed the quick start and the official video from YouTube and I can't create the nodes. The steps followed are: 1. Create a new Road Network on the hierarchy 2. Backup your terrain and either import or no 3. Go to Add Road Object window 4. Select a type (in this case the only one available is default road) 5. Select Add New Object 6. Shift + Click on the scene to crate a new node For me, step 6 is not working at all. I've tried disabling the terrain, made it un selectable, reinstalled the package, restarted Unity and neither of them worked out. I did step by step as in the video and the quick start reedme and still nothing. I'm not sure if it's a user issue or a tool issue but I can't find any solution to it. Also, based on previous reviews, seems like it might be also the fact I might be following older instructions, but I like to think the reedme inside the package is up to date. Update: I did have gizmos enabled since it was one of the things it comes to my mind. However I do not know why today it worked. As I said, I had already tried even restarting my computer before and it did not work. However, today I give it another try and it actually worked. I did not moved or change anything and it does not look like I updated anything. Not sure yet of what was causing it, my theory it might be due to something enabled on the Gizmos tabs, since it was enabled but I always untick some options. I tried finding out ticking and u ticking each one to maybe help with better feedback but I did not found the reason.

And thank you for updating the star rating, would you mind updating the review title as well because it still says that it doesn't work for you :) ----------------------------------------------- Hi Dregio, The steps are correct and indeed it is recommended to confirm backing up the terrain when asked for that after clicking clicking the menu item "New Road Network" to create a new road network object. Regarding step 6, it seems you are running into the same issue as what happened with the user in the previous review. Shift + Click to add road marker control points not working. I am missing in your review that the fix, enabling the Gizmos tab (at the top right above the Scene View window), does not work with you. Can you confirm that you tried that? The Gizmos tab is required to display the various road network related handles and it has the strange side behaviour that keyboard events are not captured in editor scripts when this tab is inactive. The Shift key press is NOT intercepted resulting in the terrain being selected when clicking on it (the default Unity click object behaviour). The Gizmos tab is active in all Unity editor layouts but it might have been manually deactivated. This situation is covered at the top on the Troubleshooting page in the manual. The Quick Start Section in the manual does points to this in a descriptive Shift + Click highlighted note. And the Quick Start video also covers this right after Shift + Click is mentioned for adding road marker control points. Could you please contact us when running into this sort of situations. We will reply fast and we will help resolve the issue. And when the issue turns out to be unresolvable you can always post a review. Raoul

I sincerely apologize to the creators of this asset. I initially thought it wasn't working on my version, but it turns out I was just following outdated instructions. (Support replied IN 3 hours — wow, amazing customer service!). I've deleted my previous 1-star review because it was entirely my mistake. I will definitely be buying the Pro version now, as the tool is excellent and, most importantly, very user-friendly. A huge thank you to Raoul from support for the fast response!

Hi Kleandee, Thank you for updating your review, much appreciated :) It seems that the issue on your end was indeed related to that specific Shift + Click event (for adding road marker control points) not working because of the Gizmos tab active state in your Unity setup. If you, or anyone else, run in other issues, please consider contacting us. Contact details are in the readme files in the EasyRoads3D root directory. We monitor the review section once every day so contacting us directly is generally the faster way to get a reply. Raoul

Indeed the feature set is limited compared to the full Pro version otherwise less people would get this Pro version, which would mean that we cannot spend much time further developing it and add new features. We always join sales when invited, at the moment there is no sale on schedule. The asset was on sale last month in January, the 2026 Kickstart Sale. Raoul

Keeps crashing :/

I'm using Unity Editor 6000.3.3f1 with on a Windows 11 machine with AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, 32 gb ram and RTX3090 and after clicking 2-3 times to build a road it crashes :( Edit: After following the suggestion and disabling all Highlight options, it's working great. It's amazing, really recommended.

[Update 2] This DX12 issue is fixed in Unity 6000.3.9 [Update 1] Glad to hear that indeed solved the issue, thank you for updating the review and the feedback ----------------------------------- Hi eserrose, First thoughts are that this is related to issues with Unity 6000.3.x and Direct3D12 in general (Direct3D12 in previous Unity versions works well). It also effects the EasyRoads3D asset. This has been isolated to the "Highlight" surfaces surrounding the road objects. These surfaces are created using Unity Handles. This can be turned off in the EasyRoads3D toolbar: General Settings > Scene Settings > Scene View Settings. Another fix is to (temporarily) switch to Direct3D11 in: Edit > Project Settings > Player > Other Settings > Graphics API for Windows This does not happen in previous Unity versions when DX12 is used. A bug report has been sent. Could you please contact us if your situation is not related to this? Our contact info is for example in the readme files in the EasyRoads3D root directory. Raoul

Thank you for offering such an cool asset for free. I have a problem that I can't save the road network to prefab . When I save the prefab the prefab would miss the mesh of the road. Is indeed the Pro version? OR Just my fault to ues?

Hi, Thank you for rating the asset! Regarding the question, Unity stores dynamically generated mesh assets (the road meshes in this case) by default in the scene file. And Unity prefabs require this mesh asset to be physically present in the project folder. That is why the road mesh is missing. In the Build settings there is an option "Store Mesh Assets in Project Folder". That will solve the issue. But I see that this option is not available in the free version. It is just a Unity API call, AssetDatabase.CreateAsset() so this can also be done in the free version. Another way of using the road network in another scene is by opening both scenes in the hierarchy and dragging the road network object to the target scene, remove the other scene. That will also work in the free version. Originally didn't work with multiple terrains, but once I got the build terrain working it was very nice. Very good, especially considering the price, although I wish I could use the fences

Fences, and other side objects like walls, guardrails, lampposts, etc., is indeed a feature available in the EasyRoads3D Pro version. -------------------------------------------------------------- Hello tejgluth, There are no known issues with updating the terrain. First thoughts are terrain tile related, how many terrain tiles are there in the scene? The free version will only update the currently active terrain. The full version will update all terrains. So the question is, what does your scene look like assuming that you indeed followed the 4 quick workflow steps also visible in the gallery images on this page. And does updating the terrain for example work well in the provided demo scene? Can you please contact us with this type of support related questions so we can actually help? As can be seen here in the reviews section it is not that this function doesn't work. Thanks, Raoul
