New Features and Optimizations

Added "Purge & Restore" Function:

After you get colors and paint your material, much of the data is saved in memory and its temporary (Non-serializable)

All of the above is cleaned up when you "Build your texture", or once you click "Get Colors" again, however, if you close the project before Build/Get Colors, this clean up processes does not take place. The next time you open the project, this data will also be corrupted as some of it is not serializable and you will not be able to clean this up.

Version 4.0

This is our largest Update, it’s a combination of 2.1 all the way to 4.0. In this update we have fixed many bugs for which most where un-reported, in addition to heavy optimizations to increases editor responsiveness and reduce processing time.

Core changes

- Added “Overclock” option in settings, greatly increases highlighting and painting refresh rate but comes at a cost of processing, only enable this on powerful hardware. (Requires experimentation)

- For advance editing, for some of our randomizing discrete selection algorithms, we have added the option for you to manually apply the color to a specific region selected for advance editing.

- Texture Highlighting greatly optimised, as we are now using native arrays and dynamic technology where by the technology changes between a selection of 4 technologies based on data size and other variables.

- Emissions: Now both the regional emission toggle and advance editing toggle need to be enabled for the region to be effected by any changes to the emission color.

- Metallic-Group mode: Now both the regional metallic-reflection toggle and advance editing toggle need to be enabled for the region to be effected by any changes.

User experience changes

- Added many more tooltips.

- In settings tab, you can now turn off Help-Boxes and Warning-Boxes, this will declutter your interface, but we suggest only doing so once you are more familiar with Colorize.

- Colorize Data-base is now hidden to prevent users from accidentally selecting it causing massive lag.

- Highlighting technology will automatically change if the texture size is < 1024*1024, this will increase editor responsiveness.

- Selecting between Solid/Non-Solid workflow was confusing, now you can clearly chose between Solid and Patterned workflows.

- Optimised most of the code, we have converted most of our Lists into Native-arrays, Dictionaries and Hashsets.

- Selection-Range, you can now select a range of colors by holding down-Shift and selecting two different regions for advance editing, this will select/deselect all regions between the two you selected, this works in reverse also (User Requested Feature).

- Fast Merge: Holding down Shift and clicking on the “Merge tool enable/disable Toggle” button, now instead of opening and closing the tool, it will auto merge all the selected color regions and assigning to them the smallest available group ID

- Merge tool, now has two buttons that will look and find available-ID which you can toggle through.

- Material Naming: Added the option to name the generated material based on a few factors such as original material name, model name etc… you get the option to choose or you can name it yourself (User Requested Feature).

- In-case of dirty patterns that can clog your Individual Mode editing with many regions which can cause Editor lag, now there is a filter set to show maximum 500 (at default). You can increases the maximum in settings. This will also prevent you from accidentally crashing for using in-compatible textures.

- Mass-Grouping Icon and functionality is now included in group mode

- Mass grouping Button, now has 3 additional modes depending on the hot key you are pressing, mouse over the button for more details (via tooltip).

- Holding CTRL + Selecting a region for advance editing, now selects all regions sharing the same group ID.

- Added the option to remove/toggle group division in individual mode.

Bug Fixes

- (Report Count = 3): A bug that caused End-vertical/horizontal UI, without a beginning, this a Unity compatibility bug with MAC-M1/M2 chips. We have found a way to work around this. FIXED

- (Report Count = 0): Copy Paste functionality did not work in unity 2021+. FIXED

- (Report Count = 0): Highlighting continued to happen, when you are using your mouse to manoeuvre the scene view. FIXED

- (Report Count = 1): Highlighting continued to happen, when recolouring if the coloring wheel overlapped with the inspector color regions. FIXED

- (Report Count = 0): Highlighting did not get reversed sometimes. FIXED

- (Report Count = 1): Highlighting lag, blinking effect, this was only effecting M1 MAC-Chips due to editor compatibility issues with unity, we found a work around. FIXED

- (Report Count = 1): Moving the colorize folder from its default directory could reduce editor responsiveness. FIXED

- (Report Count = 1): Auto referencing was sometimes referencing objects that did not have a mesh resulting in null-reference exception. FIXED

- (Report Count = 1): Emissions was turned on to maximum before you applied any emissions. FIXED

- (Report Count = 1): Auto-Assign material did not always work. FIXED

Version 2.0

This is a big update, please delete the previous version completely before downloading this new version. You can also backup textures made by backing up “Generated Materials” @ Assets/Smitesoft/Colorize Palette Modifier/Generated Materials, outside of the Smitesoft folder.

Core changes

- Color Merge Prevention has been Upgraded and Updated, and it’s now compatible with Palette fusion version 2.0+, previously only compatible with palette fusion version < 2.0.

- Color region Database has been moved to a dedicate location which greatly increases editor responsiveness.

- Most of the asset core functions have been optimized increasing calculation speeds and increasing editor responsiveness.

- New algorithms being used for highlighting to increase editor responsiveness, this especially helps with pattern colors on large textures.

User experience changes

- Added tooltips to most buttons and options, mouse-over to activate.

- For Inject material tool, we added clear buttons to clear the arrays faster.

- Added a toggle to include all unlocked region for emissions painting, instead of doing them 1 by 1.

- Added a toggle to include all unlocked color regions for metallic and reflection painting, instead of doing them 1 by 1.

- Added 2 options to instantly group all colors based on their color, one option ignores color ID and the other does not.

- Advance Painting: For Advance Discrete Dynamic mode, we added the option to remove colors from the List at Index.

- Metallic & Reflections: we changed how Universal controls work, before, Universal controls will affect all color regions that are selected for Metallic & Reflection Editing (Even if they are locked!), now it will no longer affect locked groups, and it will only affect regions selected for advance editing while at the same time they have to have Metallic and Reflection Enabled (Note: Individual controls still work the same as before).

- Added a Max Limit to how many colors a pattern should contain before the object gets rejected, this will prevent you from crashing if you use an incompatible object, or a pattern that has too many colors. The max Limit is quite liberal so you can still achieve a level of lag, but you will be warned.

- Group Editing Mode/Tab, is now ordered by group Color ID, similar to Individual Editing mode.

- Group Editing Mode/Tab is now always available, previously it was only available if you choose “Contains non solid colors”.

- In group editing Mode/Tab, you can now select multiple groups at the same time, previously you can only select one group at a time.

- Added a new function: you now have the option to only highlight color regions on mouse over while you’re holding down Left-Shift. This can really help to avoid accidental highlighting while coloring.

- Added an option to hide/show all copy/paste functions and their icons. This can reduce clutter and not everyone uses these functions anyway.

- If the referenced object does not contain a material, Colorize will look inside your children object and select the first compatible object if possible. Previously, you had to do this manually.

- Added the option to toggle on/off the color merging tool, this can help reduce clutter.

- Added a button to toggle groups by Group ID value.

- Added an option to enable/disable group dividers.

- Added a shortcut button to Documentation, Discord support servers & Smitesoft store.
